Hey Guys,
Picked this car up for a a nice cost. Got it home and on the trek home I realised it had a slipping clutch.
So evidently I had to get that sorted, so at the moment I've got the box in my kitchen and it's all getting fitted up tomorrow (today by the time you read this haha)
Took box off though and found it needed a new flywheel so sourced a nice 2nd hand one (only a n.a haha)
Plans are to paint it in Super Red (3e5) and put a border front bumper on it and rev 3 rear lights with bonnet spoiler. Apart from that all i'll add is a roof scoop and perhaps the side vent scoops too.
Further plans are in the next post, here's some pics.
P.S I'm loving it even though i've driven it ~200 miles haha.
When I first got the car
Some light reading / preperation
Whole day to get to this point, got it was so seized together :O
Started doing the gearbox only to realise the starter REALLY had to come out, was seized in there - 2 hours with a hammer then the crow bar. Finally popped (*,)
Gearbox out - YES!
What a state my clutch and pressure plate was in, i'll upload a pic of flywheel tomorrow!
New clutch and flywheel turn up, read that flywheel bolts where stretch type so ordered some of them too. Will be doing the job tomorrow, then MOT during the week. I could cry i'm so happy haha

I am also replacing the coolant and t/stat as it had a new rad recently, Aluminium. but It stayed on the C mark on way home, so think the stat is stuck open.
Got some new oil and a filter, so best to be safe rather than sorry.
Also going to give it a brake refurb, pistons, seals and pads + disks and h/brake cables.
What I want to do to the car is:
Side Scoops,
Some light window tint on rears,
Air scoop roof
Polyflex purples all around as it deserves it.
Decat on the n/a as it already has what I believe is a mongoose exhaust (any way to tell, it's definately aftermarket)
New steering wheel as stock one has been painted with spray paint :O (???)
Needs a new downpipe.
Get some 160mph clocks and a SLD for the turbo conversion.
Some 10" subs behind seats
LED dash bulbs (never liked the yellowy look)
Timing belt + w/p + oil pump? + idler pullers
Some choice gauges IE water temp.
A shifter bearing kit just to take some play out.
After all that, it'll be a turbo conversion. Which just off of ebay (i'm sure I could find parts cheaper elsewhere) Including the engine with 80k km on it.
Came to just below £2k so I may end up doing this up or a may buy a turbo. Not sure, as it is a nice shell. Needs new cancers bars but the Sills are good!
Also the t-tops are not leaking but I will most likely sort the seals out as a precautionary. I like knowing things are not going to fail instead of waiting and playing by chance
Let me know what you think guys
Any opinions or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Re: My bubble machine, ugh. MK2 n/a rev2 JDM
Sounds like a good project but..... Wtf are the bubbles all about??
Re: My bubble machine, ugh. MK2 n/a rev2 JDM
The previous owner was an "artist" decided to use the car as a canvas... Yeah I know
As I said as soon as summer comes, it's going super red
Got the clutch installed, just waiting for my friend to come over to help me refit the box.

I can think of another word for him
If you can't see the angle, you're in trouble.
Re: My bubble machine, ugh. MK2 n/a rev2 JDM
Me too, Gearbox is on, having a pig of a time installing the clutch slave... God knows why. Everything hurts now haha
Re: My bubble machine, ugh. MK2 n/a rev2 JDM
It'll be good to see this put back to its former glory. Nice project, tuned in
Re: My bubble machine, ugh. MK2 n/a rev2 JDM
Nice to know ive got some support. Tomorrow the car will run again !!!!! Then not
Re: My bubble machine, ugh. MK2 n/a rev2 JDM
So upon reinstallation of everything, there may have been a bolt snappage into the rear subframe.... So now i need one of them
Re: My bubble machine, ugh. MK2 n/a rev2 JDM
Those bubbles

Must be the only MR2, where you can say arches and doors have bubbles - but no rust.
Best of luck with it.
Best of luck with it.
Re: My bubble machine, ugh. MK2 n/a rev2 JDM
Hahaha I never thought of that!! Keep up the good work
Subframe is on the way. Finding a revision 2+ subframe was a nightmare and MR2 ben wanted £100 which I was prepared to pay but then someone got in contact me and i've nabbd one for £35 shipping.
Just waiting for it to arrive.
Anyone interested with packaging they weigh roughly 14.5KG

Are you meaning the border bonnet spoiler by any chance ? If so may pay to have a word with george lawton on here as he has just had a carbon 1 made for his beast of a car

Thank you, I have a plan, whether i stick to it or not is another story. with regards to the sale I got lucky called him up offered him cash. I had a buyer interested in my e36 328 that was in swansea. So I met him in stratford upon avon and then bought the mr2 literally 5 minutes after I had sold the beemer.

Did you hire out a booth or did you just make a makeshift booth?

Ooops I didn't mean a bonnet spoiler! I meant a Spoiler as in Turbo boot lid + spoiler haha.

Quirky, isn't the word i'd use for it. I had to drive in manic traffic getting all sorts of looks! M25 sat for 4 and a half hours with people staring at me!
If it was because it's an mr2 I wouldn't mind. But bubbles.... COME ON!!!!
Re: My bubble machine, ugh. MK2 n/a rev2 JDM
Where you based by the way Alan?
Re: My bubble machine, ugh. MK2 n/a rev2 JDM
Im right up north mate teesside and im a painter so we have a paint shop at work
Re: My bubble machine, ugh. MK2 n/a rev2 JDM
Ahhh any tips for, I'm prepping then hiring a booth out.
How much paint you think i need for a whole car (proper job not blow over)
Pre thinner, and what ratio should I mix it
Taking advantage of your knowledge

Re: My bubble machine, ugh. MK2 n/a rev2 JDM
I used 4 litre's of 2k super red 2
Put a pink primer on firstpaint 2-1 2 parts paint 1 part hardener just a drop of thinners,
I put 5 coats of red then a 50/50 red laquer mix then 4 clear coats and gave it a good flat back and machine polish
