Hi thought it was about time I should have a "Build Tread" and as PB has decided to stop working and my old thread "Looks to nice"

Re: The Grey Phoenix..Summer update
History of the car
So this was the car as I bought it.. back in 2005 off a member here named becky aka Ducatichick
Had a few runs at Santa Pod my best time running a A.E.M ecu and a Rogue charge cooler
After many track days I decided a bit more power was needed so i decided to go down the forge route. I want to sort out the 2tone paint work the car had when I bought it as she had got a mate to paint it for her and it was not the greatest
so I decided to keep the colour the same but just a refresh but this happened
Bit of a mix up at the paint shop so decided it was a time for a change
So I then it was time to start the engine build
The head was ported 18% over stock
Time for some Zircotec coating
Time for the engine to go in
Time for some mapping
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EmTsTz90FcA
And then the block decided it wanted to crack on the water pump... So after some thought I have decided to go down the 5S block route so more pics to come soon

Re: The Grey Phoenix..Summer update
So this weeks update
got the car back from TDI so I can start cracking on with the body work as the engine is still being sorted out
Also got the ABS hubs I got from Magic beans back from the blasting company as well.... So I decided I would give them some attention
Still a mountain of things to do

Re: The Grey Phoenix..Summer update
So little update... engine has been cleaned.. machined.. and ready for the install of the new pistons that came highly recommended from Nathan from DP engine parts...
Body wise we are still cracking on had to wait on a few more parts to show up..all here now and we are ready to crack on
So since the engine is out I have been considering fitting NOS only for top end so gear 4 &5 , 4k to 7k Rev for top end speed and cool the engine down a bit while on long straights I have the ECU that can easily do this.... just thinking should I?
Cheers Rich

Re: The Grey Phoenix..Summer update
Why NOS for high end revs? Surely your turbo has kicked in by 4k.
I've heard of people using it for low revs for when turbo is still spooling.

Re: The Grey Phoenix..Summer update
Not for quick spool I have that covered ....it is mainly for top end bhp and cooling of the cylinders at top end from what I have read it is good for cars in hotter climates but would still offer the same rewards here in the uk
And I would get a Go BABY GO gear knob

Re: The Grey Phoenix..Summer update

Re: The Grey Phoenix..Summer update
Update still fitting lining up panels dealing with thous unseen problems
Few photos
Fitting the Ultra Racing fender brace with a vented wing is a pain FYI they dont fit lol so a little trimming and some more body work to make custom to this build
Brace fitted... doors on and wings on... Bumper ..lights ..skirts and front lip left to align up the fill sand and paint... I might get this car up and running this year

Re: The Grey Phoenix..Summer update
Are you going to use oil squirters on the 5s block, and what head gasket are you using
Re: The Grey Phoenix..Summer update
Starting to move further in the right direction all body work strengthened and filler is starting to be applied and finishing parts
Re: The Grey Phoenix..Summer update
Adding more air flow
Front end almost ready for primer and some color

Re: The Grey Phoenix..Summer update
Sorry didn't see your question
I will ask when I go in

Re: The Grey Phoenix..Summer update
Answer to your question
I am running a HKS head gasket
No squirters have been fitted as the boost is low and I won't be going over 500bhp..
Hope that helps
