What a classic:

"so we where both goin flat out and i was having to let off to stop me from piling into the back off him, then i found a gap and seized my oppurtunity and left him for dust, and on passing him i noticed his window was open so i couldn't resist but to let my hks blow off valve sneeze in his ear hole"

Memories of Jae Hood his MR2 NA and the Porsche GT2

Perhaps it was that home build SL from that Guy in Germany - think it was running a 1300cc Escort Minstral engine - although not 100 percent?

Nonsense! How do you know he was going flat out? (By the way you need to lose an "h" because I think you meant "were" rather than "where" and add a "g" to "goin" because I think you meant "going" rather than "goin")

I can quarantee you he wasn't. He was probably accelerating at his normal pace. Probably didn't notice the MR2 behind him. Do you realise how silly this post looks?

"Do you realise how silly this post looks?"

it was just a post to tell fellow enthusiasts about my experience from my point of veiw.

considering its in the driving experiences section. how does it look silly :?

i certainly didn't expect so many kno8s to reply with such a negative response :o

Never could spell, thanks for informing me about spelling of "quarantee"

If you don't beleive keep your clever opinions to yourself

("I" before "E" except after "C". Did you go to school?)

No I'm not clever and I won't keep my opinions to myself. It's great fun replying to muppets like you. It makes me laugh. You have a fast car car but it's not a supercar, get over this.

I love reading about Mr2's versus posts. I think it's hilarious what some people are claiming. I normally forward these posts to friends so they can have a laugh too. And they do!

Please post some more "Dooohh! boy" Me and my friends are waiting......

Best regards, Tom

hmm SL 55's ... ain't all that .... AMG .... can't be that good , it's got an "MG" in it ! muhahaha !

anyway ... his mr2 turbo will go faster in a straight line than your mk1 will.

i know this to be so.

Correct and I couldn't care less.

I bought my car as a budget sportscar, not a dragster. If I could afford it I would buy an Elise.

I am sure the Mk2 turbo handles brilliantly and would be great round a track.

And before anyone comments that I am a hypocrit because I am uprating my engine, I am only doing this for two reasons.

1) Mid range acceleration on the road (overtaking safely)
2) More power for trackdays

(And by the way Doeboy, I am sorry about my posts last night, I got a bit carried away. Please accept my apologies)

you can just hear the driver of the merc talking to his wife when he got home:

'this kid tried to race me in his mr2 on the way home. was swerving all over the road behind me, cut into the traffic and overtook me with the car sounding like a lorry's airbrakes. nearly took out three people on the way past too. what a hand jockey.'

doeboy wrote:i was on my way back from the ace cafe meet last tues 3rd of may when at a set of lights up next to me pulled a merc SL55 AMG and up behind that pulled a vanquish.

so as you can imagine adrenalin and forward thinking got the better of me and i could see the guy in the merc lookin at my 2,
probably thinkin what a cheap xxxx car.

he then thought he would probably show me a real car and as the lights went green and the cars in front of us moved far enough ahead he put his foot down a blasted past me, so i set my boost on a bar and cut in behind him in between him and the vanquish.

Mmmmm a tubby sandwich

god i love the dump valve

and best of all i showed him how it doesn't matter how much you spend on the fancy sports cars of today,
u just can't beat the old turbo'd jap beasts :D

My thoughts.

The SL55 AMG is a heavy overrated piece of sh*t. But its faster than a 300 - 350bhp MR2 in a straight line, but when it has to turn, there is no excuse for you not being quicker.

I would rather cut out my own eyes with a rusty blade than own an SL55 personally, if you want a German car that drives well get a BMW, or a Porsche, and whilst on that note, a 911 would absolutely annihilate an SL55 in anything but a very long straight line with no camber variation of any kind.

Dont get me wrong, I like, nay LOVE Super Saloons, and I'm a huge fan of the Mercedes Cosworth for example, which incolves the driver as well as the car in order to go quickly, it also has timeless good looks unlike the SL.

In summary, despite hating the SL... there is no way he was pushing it, he might have been pushing "economy" mode or possible even "comfort" mode... but no way "sport" mode.

This reminds me of the time someone told me he had kept up to a 355 in his NSX... I replied - "I believed you up until you opened your mouth, if you had been going round corners then your NSX might have been quicker, if driven right... but not in a straight line"

Anyway, im new so disregard what i say if you wish lol.

Regards
Matt
