Nutter, I know you weren't referring to me, mate.

I was just saying for the benefit of others that I don't skimp.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
I'd hate to post how much I've spent on my engine in case it triggers heart attacks across the forum!

Both you and KiwiMR2 have a point.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
You're right, it's not worth skimping on such a relatively cheap item if you've spent big money elsewhere.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
The total reliability of a given set of components is only as good as the weakest link.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
KiwiMR2 has a point in that, when you're spending so much on your car, there's no point in spending on things that are not needed.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
If you're not careful, costs spiral out of control.

However, I still think the stock pump needs changing, particularly if you've got forged pistons and can run more boost.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
The stock pump just can't take the extra boost
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
(which means extra fuel rail pressure).
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
I've got 900s and the stock pump, and duty cycles are at max, and I'm pretty sure looking at my lambda readings that something is making it lean out at high RPM.

KiwiMR2, do you know how much power, and how much boost those US guys are running on the stock pump, and on what fuel
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
(race or road fuel)?
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
Don't ever get misled into comparing figures between race fuel and normal road fuel.
![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)
It's a different ball game altogether.
