THE LAST MONTH OR SO IVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH MIS-FIRING BIG TIME WHEN THE ENGINES COLD OR BEEN RAINING.I BOUGHT NEW HT LEADS AND SPARK PLUGS FROM YE OLD HALFORDS BUT IVE ONLY RECENTLY NOTICED THAT THEY ARE IN FACT ONLY 7MM,I DONT KNOW IF THAT WOULD MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE BUT THERE SUPPOSED TO BE 8MM RIGHT,ANOTHER THING ON THE DISTRIBUTOR THERE ARE NUMBERS FOR EACH CONNECTION OF THE HT LEAD NOW IS THAT SUPPOSE TO CORRESPOND TO WHICH LEAD GOES WHERE IE WHICH SPARK PLUG IT GOES TO.
TO TOP THINGS OFF THE SPEEDO HAS NOW DECIDED ITS GONNA STOP WORKING,IS THAT A COMMON FAULT AND IS IT AN EASY FIX AND ALL THE TIME THE SPEEDO ISNT WORKING IM TOO TEMPTED TO FLY DOWN THE BYPASS AT ABOUT 160 ODD MPH WITH NO SPEED LIMITER
ANY HELP WOULD BE GRATEFUL
CHEERS

Re: DISTRIBUTER CAP/MIS-FIRING/SPEEDO
Toyota OEM leads would be your best bet.
Yes a number on the cap will correspond to what plug the lead plugs onto.
If its a mechanical speedo then you can check at the gearbox end to see if the cable has snapped or if its the drive unit out of the gearbox.

stop shouting!!! use lower case, its also easier to read
If you have changed theleads and now the car won't start then you must have done somethig wrong.
Check the wiring on your car with the various pics you have ( if not do a search on here) and check the leads go to the correct plugs.
