Wiring Problems

Post by Goldy »

Had radio nicked, and have been left with a mess of wires. The active speaker wiring block seems to not work, and it looks like someone previously wired up the speakers to a standard block..... I've got 4 pairs of wires which are connected to the speakers, which i've worked out.

There is 4 more wires which are....
Red - 12V switched?
Green - 12V permenant?
Blue - I think this is ground?
Black - Was taped up not sure what this is?

Problem is that i wire them up to the radio and It doesnt power, you can hear a soft pop come from the sub box every time I do this.. I've check several times and can't work out where i'm goin wrong....

Can anyone shed some light on the matter of my wiring?

Thanks in advance

I've had a look at the wiring diagrams, and i've had a multimeter on all the wires, I think that the blue wire is the amp power for the sub, and as for the earth wire, i assume that should be the black one. However it doesn't seem to want to work... I've checked it and its as if its not connected to anything!! :-S

Ok problems solved....

The original wiring block was completely Inactive....

The blue wire was the power to the Amplifier
The black wire didnt seem to do anything, so i've wired myself a brand new earth, and hey presto works perfectly, the active speakers even work...

I'm well chuffed it sounds wikkid :D:D:D

Nice one Goldy, you've managed to start and finish a thread on your own, with no-one else in the middle!! :D

just have this niggling thought that if I rip out the wiring, then the car will never get out of the garage again.

Still in the garage...
