Rev 5 Turbo for sale on eBay

Post by pnelson »

Hi everyone.... is there a reason no one has bought that black rev 5 turbo on three spokes that's been sitting around on eBay for a long long while now...

Looks pretty straight to me apart from the dodgy seat covers and as rev 5 turbos are so rare I thought someone would've bought it by now for 7k.

It's got a rev1 lip and something looks slightly off about the front end. Plus it's being sold by a company who have had a shitty reputation for dressing up slightly dodgy cars.

Edit: wtf is going on with the wingmirrors? Looks like someones tried to modernize them, the fuel flap looks weird and also doesn't look to have the right doorcars for a rev 5, the whole interior looks pretty ropey.

If I was going to be paying 7 grand for an mr2 it would have to be much nicer than that one even though it is a rev5

Would have been dirt cheap at auction for a reason for anyone to make money off it at £7k. Would be interesting to see the original auction sheet. I bet they don't have it

Been sold by rebadged keighley trade Center?

1. Rear roof mount aerial probably means there a hole drilled in the roof.
2. Front fog lights missing
3. Rev 1/2 door cards
4. That's not a Rev 1 lip. Looks aftermarket.
5. Looks like side repeaters grafted into the side mirrors
6. Fuel flap looks wrapped/diff colour/Matt
7. Sills aren't body colour

I'd avoid that like the plague.

You guys have keener eyes than me. Now that the mirror repeaters have been pointed out they do look rather bodged!

You see a lot of barried MR2s around and sometimes you wonder what people were thinking... but for this one the mods are so strange. Has anyone before even considered moving the aerial and indicator repeaters... what's the point!

Sorry craig you already mentioned that. I nearly went to view this car last week until Andys became available.

That's not a rev 5 steering wheel either. Maybe it's had a front ender. Hence different sagging bumper and no rev 5 airbag wheel

That is a rev5 JDM airbag steering wheel.

For evidence, I offer: http://www.mr2.com/forums/threads/11008 ... JDM-stuffs

Looks like something like this:

Cheap, universal, stick-on repeaters. I'd bet they aren't bright enough to be useful in the daytime either...

They also have what looks like at first glance a nice RX7 for sale. But the description is that it is an RZ Special Edition... BUT the special edition was manufactured around the year 2000 and had red bucket seats.. Theirs has standard cloth seats and is a 1994 car so impossible to be what they claim.

Also a modded skyline which I was interested in, but again with the state of the mr2 and dodgy description of the rx7 and as other forum members have had bad experiences with the company I never bothered to follow up my interest.

That being said.. If you go with your eyes wide open and make sure the chassis is straight and are prepared for swapping a few bits back and sorting a bit you end up with a genuine rev5 import turbo with just you on the logbook... well possibly motorhub then you so 1 previous owner which would look nice.
