[Mk2] [Turbo] Throttle body replacement

Post by yokomomr4bx »

Hey guys,

What's the word on compatibility between st205 throttle bodies and the rev3 turbo engine, from what I've understood they are mechanically the same but would anyone be able to shed some sure light on this?

Thanks, Ed

The difference is in what bolts up to the throttle body (ST205 has a rubber sock, SW20 has a metal tube), not the TB itself. They are also supported against the valve cover slightly differently. :thumleft:

If it makes a any odds a month or so later, i use a MR2 throttle body on my celica - i have a fmic so I dont need to worry about the tube differences, everything else works fine.

I was very kindly supplied one by a member of this forum, works absolutely fine, massive improvement to my old one, especially on light throttle compared to the on/off switch I had been used to. Fuel economy has also improved dramatically now I have a fully functional IAC valve, as has the warm up idle time.
