Hi chap.

I'd really love to know how the grey metallic rocker cover was achieved ?

Paint ? Idmf so what paint /lacquer /prep method

Powder coated ?

It's more or less exactly what I had in mind for refreshing mine as part of my engine rebuild, though sadly my rev3 cover doesnt have 'toyota' on it. any help/advice would be much appreciated.

It was painted with normal car paint and lacquer

The finish is how far you are willing to sand the rocker cover for (I spent a week, few hours every night sanding it down while watching T.V so it was as flat as I could get it.) Etch primer then primer then the base colour, then the TOYOTA was hand painted on.. then a few coats of lacquer... when it comes to paint the prep is were you get a good job or a great job... :thumleft:

I Had to do this twice as I changed my colour scheme ](*,)

So she is a live a few teething issues

1.) Racer X fab cam and crank kit... very basic and for a building block it is good but a few flaws, the sensors are very weak and not the best as they cooked them self's once the engine got to temp. The connection from the cam and sensor had loads of movement and once you back of the power a rattle suddenly presented it self

2.) Was sold the wrong cams and HKS have stopped all manufacture of Rev2 cams and have no stock Europe and Japan so a little rework to fit the rev3 ones...

Along road to get to this stage but now the running is done the power mapping next Thursday :thumleft:

Well i think after all this my block has cracked it water jacket near the water pump as it seems to have a slight drip of coolant ! so After a long conversation with my engine builder a new bottom end is going to be needed! So I have a few questions

Does the 5s block allow a rev2 head to fit?

Does the 5s block longer as in depth? as my ex-haste is a tight fit

Or

Do I refit a Rev2 block but do some serious work on the block so it wont be a issue in the future ie adding material to the area like Belzona 1111 (Super Metal) or one of their products

Or do a wet wall Sleeved block so it would allow the pressure build up in that area to be equal and then apply some sort of ceramic coating to strengthen the block

It is currently running 400whp

After some research it seems this is a common fault on the block as it a weak spot near the water pump only on the coolant jacket the bores are still fine .. the block was tested and check before the build and all seemed fine..

Currently it is a weep and I am going to try and use industrial grade metal epoxy to get the car mobile...I know this is not a long term solution as it will always be in my head so this is why I want to look into other solutions for the block to strengthen it by the water pump!

Dayum, "typically" these go around the 500 mark. Luck of the draw.
