[Mk2] [Turbo] Drive by wire

Post by shane34 »

Can anyone explain what drive by wire means

Would I be correct in saying it removes the throttle cable and is done by electronics, I'm getting fed up with the bodged throttle position sensor, it's failed once, and I'm now suffering high fuel economy as it's not set up exactly where it was before. It's 75mm throttle body, using a adaption onto the Toyota sensor cable.

It's not pretty or accurate lol

Is it easy to set up?

Yeah, so you have a throttle position sensor on the throttle, which tells the ECU what position the throttle is at, and there's a map that converts that to torque demand - that's how modern cars can have different response depending on what 'mode' is selected.

You need a standalone ECU that supports electronic throttle to do this.
