Tear tyre wear

Post by aguiloco »

Hi, I have a stock 2000 MR2 and is wearing the back tires like crazy. the last 3 sets lasted less than 4000km, front tires are fine.

I drive usually on roads, no city, fast in the corners.

Some months ago I had to replace a bearing on the gearbox, didn't touch the diff. Had to remove the suspension arms but I put them exactly where they were.

How many miles last your back tires? could be a geometry or diff problem?

Where are they wearing? What tyres are they? When did you last have a geo done?

I have been trying some models, 3 tires ago they wear the inner first, then the Bridgestone Potenza Adrenalin wear on the exterior first, I think due to the softness of the wall, the last one are some cheap Nexen and the wear is even.

I made the adjustments last year, the rear only have camber and it was OK, I will check it again with the new tires.

How many miles last your rear tires?

Maybe I should back up a bit on the corners, this is getting expensive...

I get about 5k out of a set of 888s, so you're miles over that. Do you slide a lot?

I take corners at the edge of the grip but no power slides, maybe a bit on some roundabouts.
