Driving in EU - breakdown options?

Hi,
What do people do as a pre-caution before going on EU driving trip, and for breakdown cover while away? I presume getting a MR2 towed back from Spain would be a nightmare scenario?

Do people take a list of MR2 country clubs with them just in case?

I had RAC Euro cover and prayed like bu88ery.

Full Euro cover inc. repatriation. AA are the UK rep. £80 per year. Bargain.

I've used AA euro cover for both lemans trips I've been on as one off cover for the trip. About £120 for 10 days cover inc repatriation to the uk.

Couple of things:

If your car is older than 15 years, some of them do not cover you. If you fall into this category then double check the age limits. I went to Germany "with" cover, it was only on my return that I realised I wasn't covered (luckily no problems) and managed to get my money back from them. The clue of "1988 E-Reg" wasn't a big enough clue for them to realise they were not covered.

Also double check any repatriation amounts. They do repatriate every car, it needs to be of a minimum value, otherwise it is cheaper for them to get you home and then pay you for the book value of your car (in the same way as it would be if written off).
