Clearly this wasn't a fuel leak, but the car hitting 88mph and shortly after that pic disappearing to 1985

We traced the problem to a faulty core plug behind the flywheel - it was an oil fire.



The marshals did a great job with the extinguishers and we had heat / fire resistant materials throughout the engine so got away with any serious damage. Rather than chase the fault on the engine, we dropped it out and replaced it with our spare before continuing with the race.

That was unlucky Patrick, I thought plugs for oil ways were secured by taper thread plugs and core plugs were only used for water ways.

So does the MRS engine use core plugs for oil ways?

That doesn't have the MRS engine, it's got the 3.5ltr V6 from the Evora...

Yes, there is a core plug for the oil system behind the flywheel. This is the one that failed.
