In theory the injured passenger should still get compensation as long as the car was insured, as they are a 3rd party to the accident. If it was SORN'd the driver would get nothing probably as it would invalidate his insurance, but the insurance company will still be obliged to cover 3rd parties (and pursue the driver to recover their costs if they wish). At least I think that's how it works
