I bow to your superior knowledge.

Makes a mockery of Pugeot then as their most powerful engine to date is less than that and a diesel.

True! The 9J4 was strangled by emissions regs. If it had of been 5 years older would have been a different story!

Is there any relation between the Clio V6 engine and the Nissan 350z engine?

None at all.

Nissan VQ engine
Renault L engine

The VQ35DE as seen in the 350Z between 2003 and 2006 was also used in the Vel Satis, Laguna and Espace prior to the release of the Zed, hence the common mistake of thinking it's a Renault engine (and that is 99% down to Clarkson being either an uneducated twit or an ignorant one in search of headlines, your choice).

A mate had one of these when they first came out (the MK2), tbh I thought it was awesome and was very quick (I didnt have a tubby back then), it also seemed to put the grip down and handle very very well.

Really cool having the engine right behind you aswell in the car, but totally boring standard plasticy Clio inside.

He got that following his 172 sport!

Wasent long though before he sold the V6 and bought a Porsche then sold that and got all sensible ](*,)

A rev 1/2 tubby with CT26 will have problems with the 255 at top end speeds. You can pull away from the easily, then the boost drops off and Mr 255 sails past you.

With regards to the Clarkson thing - SO right. Everyone and their uncle repeats so much of what he says and he says most of it in jest.

How many people think an X-Type Jag is a redressed Mondeo? It's NOT.

How many people relentlessly say "all Boxter owners buy them because they cant afford a 911"

The list just goes on and on.

The mans a great TV presenter and very funny, but he's not the all knowing being some people make him out to be.

ford CD132 platform

I think you will find that Clarkson is rather close with the redressed Mondeo jab. Both the 2000 Mondeo and the X-type are built on the same CD132 floorpan. The X-type was initially released as AWD with 2.5 or 3L V6's but then they made it cheaper and made FWD 2L and diesel versions.

All sounds a bit too Mondeo to me.

The Jag v6s are no relation to the mondeo v6s, but the diesels are similar I think.
