wrx race got me thinking............

Post by chrisf »

hi,dont post here often-in the driving bit that is......lol
recently a smart ar$e with bimbo in tow, in a classic shape wrx was after a bit of sport-which i kindly accepted

anyhow my rev2 tuby hs around 240bhp(in garage for full rebuild at mo) and i closed in on the wrx (slowly) on the motor way from 60 mph onward.........

say my car runs at 320bhp after rebuild and mapping what would i expect to keep up with and what may i expect my 0 to 60 and more importantly my quarter mile times to be?

Not sure, but your xxxxx will easily be 6-7 times bigger. :thumleft:

1/4 mile time is dependant on launch + control more than anything, 0-60 is a bit pointless unless you're on said dragstrip and you'll keep up with an Enzo if he doesn't want to play or can't drive for peanuts. Build and drive the car for yourself, not for bragging rights down the pub.

E46 and older are no problem for me on the 1/4 mile, and mine is only mildly modded so far.

Back when my car was running the stock clutch and around the 310 to 320BHP mark - ie. about 260 to 270WHP - it ran a dragstrip quarter mile time of 13.27s with a poor launch (2.0s 60ft time). Car weighed in at about 1400kg's with me and some junk+spare in it

I was also using a G-tech meter at the dragstrip that day and it showed my 0-60mph time for that particular run to be about 4.7 seconds. Obviously a better launch would net you both a faster 1/4 mile and 0-60mph time than this :eye:

13.6 on concrete (north weald airfield), can launch much faster on tarmac, but not done a timed drag on tarmac yet!

A standard ish Rev 3 will run 13.5 1/4.

Thats what mine ran it was running exhuast and de-cat.

If you can get the car off the line reasonably well, with 320bhp you will be looking at 12.8 ish.

Standardish Rev3 should match an M3.

Think of it this way, at 260-270ish BHP, you will do 0-60 in 5.3ish and 0-100 in 13.4 seconds ish. So anything less than this and you win! :)

Yeah, it makes a big difference with a good surface to launch off.

Yeah man, well living in Dunf right now.

I used to roll around in a Rev 3 turbo with white wheels. Had for 4 years or so, sold it 4 months ago or so.

What you got?

Used to be loads of us in and around the Fife area.

Try Mr2oc.co.uk they usually have lots of Scottish meets. Used to be at the bridges in South Queensferry.

I got no more Mr2 :( Sold it for some daft reason. I had a Silver 400bhp STi for a while used to be in KDY a bit.

Now got a Disel Golf Gti and a GSXR motorbike.... if im through in KDY will be on the bike.

Mikee here used to be around KDY, he sold his 2 and lives in Leven now. Shepz too.

Not too sure there are many more on the clubs anyway, think there are 2 from Glenrothes though.

Yeah i know fimmo.

Ha i know i shoulda kept the 2. I regret it alot! Although the car was just going to waste. My fun time is on my bike now though. Lol.

Although the 400bhp Scoob is a good laugh! Its too easy though!

Planning on another 2 real soon. Need to sell the Golf, and its quite hard to find the exact 2 i want.

White red 4 or 5 Turbo T bar, white wheels. Not seen any for sale recenlty.
