IGNITION LEADS RECCOMENDATION UK REV5 N/A PLEASE

Post by alan_uk »

Hi guys

Looking to do a full ignition service to hopefully solve my cold running problems,

The ht leads fitted at the moment are likely the originals and look rather tired and am looking for reccomendations for replacenents, i dont want magnecor as my last rev5 didn't run well on them at all, so for a uk car with 100,000 + miles what do you lot suggest

I liked the trd leads i used on my old car but they dont fit in the plastic channel and ideally id like to keep it all tidy under there,

Thanks in advance

Also if possible whats the best plugs
NGK OR DENSO ?

TBH nothing wrong with OEM Alan.

They are top quality and go on forever, I know a Toyota dealership that will offer us guys good discount and post out if you are thinking of this.

They cost around £120.
Your local friendly Toyota dealership typically takes around 2 working days to get them.
But of course it's New Year now :)

Will the ngk's fit in the plastic trunking on the inlet ? As the trd's dont ?

What sort of price should i be paying for ngk leads for a n/a and would i bebest using ngk platinum bkr6ep-8 plugs over denso 1's if using ngk leads ?

Not sure mate, I had to do away with the plastic trunking due to it not fitting with my top mount charge cooler. Got my NGK leads from GTSchris.

OEM is fine.

My last MR2 had Magnecor leads. They were red. They were on the car for who knows how long before I got it, they were still on the car 4 years / 60k miles later.

To be honest, as long as the are the right spec and aren't dodgy eBay specials you'll probably be fine!

Leads are same for Turbos & NA's. 5mm leads for Rev2+. I have NGK ones which work well. They do not fit the plastic trunking as shorter than stock.
