Rev 2 Tubby vs E92 335i (twice) then Punto GT vs E92 335i

Post by vtecpower »

Hey people was driving home from my g.f's house Monday night and was approached by 1 of these at a traffic light (young boy driving it).. First thoughts was this is a lovely car man anyways lights went green and he shot off! and i fell inlove with the exhaust =P~

Didn't bother flooring my tubby as i knew he already had a head start so we approach the next lights this time he is looking at me and revving his lovely car in neutral ](*,)

Anyways i thought im going to loose this car is new mine is old. his does 0-60 mph in 5.1 i do it around 5.3, he got taller gear ratios with more power!

Lights went green and i DESTROYED 335i i slowed down to wait for him then we had a go at 30 mph roll.. Again i DESTROYED it.. the guy gave me a thumbs up and we went our own way..

Today i was approached by another 1 (so different driver older this time and different car) still a E92 335i .. we had a go from stand still and i whooped it then i slowed down for traffic and he started going in and out of lanes so i left him to it.. got to my mates house and started telling him how slow these 335i's are and how BMW are lieing about its specs..

I could tell he wasn't convinced so after a bit we went out to grab some food in his MK1 Punto GT Turbo (specs are Seb Chip, Induction kit, decat, big exhaust, front mount inter cooler and EBC set to 17ish psi) and what did we come across a 335i anyways he had a go and he stayed a car length infront of it till around 90-ish mph then the 335i gained and over took.. and when we approached the next lights he couldnt believe my mates car was a 1.4 !!!

i know dragging on street is bad but i assure you 90% of the time i drive like a grandad with his grandchildren in the car.. the 10% i do boost i make sure the road is clear and i dont do anything stupid like dodge in and out of cars and cut people up

so what does everyone else think of these e92 335i ?? i know with a remap they are fast but in standard form i think they are poor no way will they do 0-60 in 5.1 a e46 m3 takes on my tubby and a standard 335i dont! but on paper it should lol

i dare say the factory 0-60 times are done in controlled enviroments
. Plus was the 335i an auto as they are slower than the manuals?

Would have thought the 335i would beat a standard mr2, 306 bhp vs 220/240 is no contest surely?

It would. He either can't drive or wasn't trying. Or it wasn't a 335.

That's my point on paper yes it would but I beat two and then my mate beat 1 from 0-90 mph then the 335 over took him so surely all 3 can't be rubbish drivers :-k

335i (306hp/1600kg) * 1000kg = 191.25 hp/tonne
Rev1/2 Turbo (220hp/1300kg) * 1000kg = 169.23 hp/tonne
Rev3/4/5 Turbo (242hp/1300kg) * 1000 = 186.15hp/tonne
My modded rev3 Turbo (300hp/1300kg) = 230.6hp/tonne

How much power does your MR2 have vtecpower?

Not sure buddy it did the 1/4 in 14.01 with only 9 psi on a hot day (one of the hottest in England) when I was up against the 335i my car was hitting 11.5 psi and both times it was a cooler day

I have a induction kit, decat, free flow exhaust, race clutch, alloy rad and blitz ecu

The point I making is that yes it was ment to beat my car but twice it didn't and my mates mk1 punto gt held 1 off till around 90 mph surely between the three 335i drivers one had to be good

well slightly modded tubby will pull ahead but would never destroy one. To me destroying someone is seeing them disappear in the rear view mirror not winning by half a bonnet say.
