Jack car up securely and remove wheel

!

Remove brake caliper

- just the caliper, not the carrier

- remove lower 12mm bolt, flip up over and slide off slider

( not bolt retained

!

)

Leave it hanging on the trailling arm

Go buy yourself a 30mm deep set socket with a half inch drive and breaker bar.

Remove split pin and star shaped cover from main hub nut.

Jam in a extension bar between the brake caliper carrier and the rotating wheels studs

/ socket thats over the hub nut.

Crack torque off hub nut, remove.

Below the hub, you'll see 2x 17mm

( or 15mm

- slips my mind

) securing the trailing arm etc to it.

.

.

remove those 2 bolts and that will release the lower trailing arms to the hub.

Remove 2 x 19mm shocker nuts and bolts

- leave shock in situ.

Free hub away from shocker, use breaker bar to push down on lower track control arm wishbone and lift hub from track control arm and push the driveshaft in over

- so basically, your lifting the hub and lowering it towards the rear of the car as the rear track contorl arm is still connected.

Be very careful doing this as the components have a great mass behing them, so if you get your finger jammed, you will know about it.

Drain oil.

Pull driveshaft out

!! Simple.

The driveshaft has a little snap ring

( figure of speech

) doesn't actually snap, but that stops the driveshaft moveing laterially when in motion.

Pull oilseal off, refit new

- blunt head extension bar

/ socket, use hammer

/ rubber hammer to knock into position.

.

then reverse the above

!

The mechanic is repsonsible for his work

- he may have nipped it refitting the driveshaft.

.

.

I know had I changed a box out, new oil seals for a start

- then you know, no further issues.

To refill

- easiest is at the top of the box

- big breather nut, remove that and fill 3.5 litres worth in, open up level bolt on the side of the box and fill oil in box till oil starts to pour out off the side.

Job done.

If its all been off recently, it'll all crack off easily too

!!

I'll give you 20 mins and half hour to refil the box

!!
