good idea ,But the bit you are changing ,the regulator ,in some cases will be the defective part |

Of course you are correct but if someone where doing this job I would expect them to know the actual alternator was defective and not the regulator.
Not everybody will know which part is defective though so guess I best make a amendment or maybe you could. ![Laughing [Laughing]](images/smiles/icon_lol.gif) |

Have a look in the BGB mate.
Check out the alternator section.

This gives you a idiots guide to a almost full check of all alternator components.
Unfortunatly it doesnt show any values/readings for the IC regulator but, it does tell you the values/readings you should get from all the other components.
So all you need to do is check the other components and if they are all within specified limits then you know its the IC regulator.
