Something for Newbies

Post by PJ3074 »

I noticed there are few new MK1 owners who've posted up this week - Welcome to owning / driving the best version of the 2 there is!! (not that I'm bias to the MK1  )

If this is your first MK1, trying to find stuff could be a nightmare, but if you're on IMOC then at least you're in the right place for help / advice.

So in order to help out you new guys (and girls) here is a list of sites I have logged in My Favourites, where I source eveything I need.

I hope they will save you time, effort and money so you can spend more time on your car (bu88er...where did I go wrong there!! #-o )

http://www.larkspeed.com
http://expresscarparts.co.uk
http://www.valuetyres.co.uk
http://www.blackcircles.co.uk
http://www.europerformance.co.uk
http://www.fensport.co.uk
http://brakeparts.co.uk (http://www.brakesinternational.co.uk)
http://www.brakepartssuperstore.org.uk
http://www.bodyshopwarehouse.co.uk
http://tandk-mr2-mk1-spares.piczo.com
http://www.eurosport-uk.co.uk
http://www.autojapspares.co.uk

The above covers everything from:-

1) Replacement Panels
2) Alloys / Tyres
3) Service Parts
4) Brakes / Clutches
5) Performance Mods & Upgrades
6) Tasteful Bodykit for the MK1 by Eurosport
7) Restoration Supplies
8) Mechanical / Engine Bits and Upgrades

Also, the "For Sale" board on IMOC - just got myself some new performance springs for £70 from a Koni Kit. Bargain!! :thumleft:

eBay is a great resource: Just type "MK1 MR2" and that returns just about everything listed up there. Look at the eBay shops (Discount Motorists Centre is another good one)

If you do a Google search for MR2 Breakers/Dismantlers in Epsom, Surrey there is a big outfit breaking loads on MK1's.

This will give you a good start in getting what you need. :thumleft: :thumleft: :thumleft:

It's also worth noting that becoming a Premium Member of IMOC (link at the top of each page - "Premium Membership") at a cost of £7.50 per year gives you access to some premium member discounts at a couple of the places mentioned above... :thumleft:

Also, keep an eye out for group buys that could be of use to you. Group buys have their own relevant section in the For Sale section, and I also maintain a sticky at the top of the Mk1 Club section with Group Buys relevant to Mk1s... (Though I don't check all the time so it may be worth also checking the group buys section once in a while!)

Thanks for the list though Paul!

I'd also add TCB (www.tcbparts.co.uk) for various mechanical bits some of which are genuine Toyota at decent prices plus buypartsby (http://www.buypartsby.co.uk/) for cheap pattern brake discs and clutches

Sure I could come up with more but for some reason I never add sites to my favorites when I come across them so always forget about them later.

That is correct
If you can't see the angle, you're in trouble.
