This is a great idea and could be intergrated into the website. A page could be used for donations, special features for the message board (i.e. member features) and another for sponsors etc..

Yep, we're looking at something like that .. money isn't an immediate pressing issue but its really great to see people willing to chip in a little to keep the site going.

Currently we're building up the site's features (we now have our own IMOC 'reference model' site to test stuff on - we've got some really good stuff there that I'm pleased with) and if testing goes well on these we should have the more complex changes in place before Christmas - some of the more simple ones being done over the next few days.

We've been talking about Banner ads on the Admin list and the current Affiliates scheme - personally I'd like to keep he site Ad free and based on subscriptions.

Currently we're looking at the possibility adding features to the site for members who have paid subscriptions - there may be tiers of subscription with additional features for each tier that regular users here may find userful - Galleries, file storage etc etc.

I'd personally prefer to pay a contribution towards the site and keep it Ad free. Banner ads are a pain in the ar$e.

Bring back the affiliates section so that there is a designated space for business adverts.

Yep agreed on the Affilliates - we're in the process of contacting them all.

Could you post a note up in the suggestions forum though so we can track this one along with all the good ideas you folks are having ?

The banner ads i was thinking of were like the ones over at www.mr2oc.com and www.lancerregister.com.

Have a main affiliates page, but have banners at the top for the various affiliates to advertise, which the affiliates pay an annual fee...such as GTSCHRIS, ROGUESYSTEMS, etc etc. Trust me, the number of hits on there website will be far greater then just having an advert on a seperate affiliates page (which will be free), that way everyone is happy. The affiliates pays its annual fee for the banner and they WILL make more customers/revenue and IMOC gets its cut.

Plus hopefully in the next month or 2 I might even be an affiliate myself. Just have a few final details to sort out.
