[Mk2] [Turbo] !!! REV2 Turbo Mappable ECU !!!

Post by luthor1 »

Hi all you Rev2 Owners.

I am starting an interest list for Jeremy Ross's laptop mappable Rev2 ECU conversion.

I've had the prototype plugged into my car and drove it whilst Jeremy had his laptop plugged in logging data. This thing logged EVERYTHING. It was even telling me miles per gallon. There is access to EVERY part of the stock ECU and it's all configurable, EVERYTHING.

I think we should get behind him and support this. Our options as Rev2 owners are EXPENSIVE because we have to remove the AFM for most of the solutions which involves the wiring upgrade to Rev3. I think the cheapest way is Link which comes out at nearly £1000 mapped. Jeremy's will be a lot cheaper.

Remember, this is a STANDARD ECU which we will have FULL ACCESS to so it will still kick your AC idle up in, still have all the features and failsafe's that Toyota designed, require NO additional wiring, and is 100% plug and play, whilst I was at his place, we must have had the ECU in and out a dozen times without any issues.

Let's support this, so I'll start the interest list.

Would be interested in trying out the mapping side of things comparing to other ecus I map.

espically the injector duty settings after 1bar on rev2 ecu.

Please contact me jeremy if you wish to try making changes to fuel and ignition maps as will be able to help you with development as have all the gear and logging capabilities.

De-Catting your own car is a total PITA so that's no problem!!

Just need to show support for Jeremy so he sees it as worth progressing.

Count me in, I've been watching Jeremy's thread with interest. I'm eventually going to want something more mappable than my Unichip and this sounds perfect.

I've seen this and been interested in it... I've got a rev one and soon also a rev three. I'd buy this for either car :-)

fitment? HEHE!! You undo 3 bolts, unclip 3 plugs and fit the new one by clipping in 3 clips and doing up 3 bolts.

You run a cable to the front of your car for plugging into a laptop.

The beauty of it is, that it will come with the stock Rev2 maps already on it, so you can buy it, plug it in, get used to the data logging and what-not, then take it to a rolling road for mapping. It really is THAT simple.

Jeremy was altering the rev limiter and boost limit on my car easily for testing purposes.

Last I heard, he had designed the PCB part, and was designing the spacer that lifts the lid up a littlt to house the extra components, and designing the USB connectivity cable.

I think it's pretty much ready to be made (hardware wise) just needs the support I am hoping to offer him so he see's it as a project with legs.

Great thread. This would be a nice piece of kit. So can you change anything on the ECU from any laptop with the right software?

Certainly does sound like a good piece of kit, so basically i could take it to any rolling road and it could be setup, thats pretty cool. Is ther an estimated price yet, so that we can get saving

I dont have a Rev2 turbo... yet (fingers crossed) but this sounds interesting, what software is he using or is it custom software? Might make an interesting piece of kit for a carputer :)
