John Noble Motorsports Dyno Day - Results and Pictures

Post by jonno »

Thanks to everyone who came and made the event a success - without the enthusiasm of you lot I probably would have given in trying to arrange this day!,

Can everyone who went drop me an email with their scanned plots please? I will scan the 5 I have tonight and post them up.

Why does everyone have a weird expression on their faces??? :)

Big thanks to Jonno for organising the day.

It was a great day out, despite my poor result, i still had a nice time.

Good to meet some new people and the regulars too.

BTW i think i sorted my boost controller out on the way home, so i can now hit a constant 16.2psi \:D/

Roll on the next RR day!

Cheers!

Another big thanks to Neil for organising the day & keeping his cool when it looked like there wasn't going to be enough people def. interested who were willing to put their money where their mouth/fingers was!! ](*,)

Only came as the passenger with Andy Jones as mine isn't ready for the road yet (another week or two now)[-o<

Apart from Andy's dissappointing results, had a cracking day & good to meet you all. \:D/

Another big thanks to Neil for organising the day =D> and to Steve for not taking us to "NOBLE'S" :P

My first meet since purchasing the 2 and it nice to finally meet some of the people i've been chatting to over the forum the past 18 months. Had a great day apart from my result

Made 294bhp in November, Since then:

Replaced blowing flexi pipe
Stock injectors replaced with SARD 850's
Stock fuel pump replaced with Uprated Walbro
NGK BKR6EP replaced with BKR7EVX
Boost increased from 1.15bar to 1.3bar

New output 267bhp \:D/ AV IT!!!

££££ well spent  :?

Thats weird mate, but most people seem to be down on previous runs, (including myself). I'm just going to put it down to experience and remember to whack the boost right up for next time! :D

Nice to meet some old and new faces, didn't get my promised beating either so that was a bonus ;) White van man was probably the highlight of my day but it was good to have a look around everyone's cars to see what they have been spending money on, it's great to see them evolve :)

Anyway I took a few photos:

I've reduced the size and quality of them all, if anyone wants the original pic of their car please feel free to get in touch.

Awesome pictures Mr C. Was a good day. Shame you had to come in the grown-ups car, would have been good to see the supra do a power run.

A great day out, and some interesting RR results. I spoke to a few people there, but generally lurked around in the background being nosey! :D

Another opportunity to put more names to faces to cars. =D>

Well done Jonno!

It's not easy organising such an event, so top marks to Neil for sticking with it and being patient with everyone.

You're a star, Neil!

With regards to the results, I think they were pretty bang on!

On the first run, I used the map that Mark @ Owens had hashed together before I left, and the result was within 2bhp of what it saw on Owens dyno. On the second run, I ran a bit more advance, and I got the expected results.

The only thing that wasn't quite right was torque, but when you look at it, there's a dip in the torque curve where peak torque would be. This dip was caused by the characteristics of their dyno. I won't get too technical here, but essentially it's to do with the "ramp up rate" of the dyno, and hence the force applied by the retarders. This is also what caused AndyF problems with his car. But there ya go, dynos are a complex thing.

I generally felt the figures achieved were accurate for the mods done on the different cars. For those that had seen higher figures on other dynos with the same car, it just shows you how innacurate some dynos can be.

In general, I was very happy with the way that the guys at Noble operate and they run a good dyno.
