rev1-2 turbo engine harness

Post by terminater2_uk »

Hiya first time here.
Could anybody tell me if the rev 1 and 2 turbo ecu and wiring harnesses are the same or different?
Recently fitted a rev 2 engine to my rev 1 turbo and need to know whether my ecu and harness will be ok or whether I need the rev 2 versions.
Any help greatly appreciated :)

I know the ecu's are pinned differently so you can't use a rev1 harness on a rev2 ecu and vise versa. not sure if the rev1 gear will run a rev2 engine though. I'd guess at yes as AFAIK all the bits it connects to are the same.

Thanks, much appreciated. Its been wired up with the rev 1 loom by the previous owner but although the starter spins, the engine wont start. Thats why I wondered maybe something was missing.

The engines and electronics are the same on both revisions. The ecu and wiring loom are different !

If you want to save yourself some hardship and if you've a rev 2 engine loom, get a rev 2 ecu plugged in. Working a rev 1 ecu to a rev 2 loom won't work.. niether vice versa. Theres a 21 pin difference in the two ecus .. not worth repinning.

So either pull the old loom off your rev 2 engine and swap it out for the rev 1 or simply buy the rev 2 ecu !

Take you about 3 hrs to change it out in situ !

I have one for sale by the way !!

Well what I think he's done is when he got the engine, the loom had been chopped for easy removal. So what the plank has done is chop his rev 1 loom and tried to join it to the rev 2 loom.
I think I can safely say I need a rev 2 ecu and loom if anybodys got both. How much? :)

Its a rev 2 engine ! But the ecus a rev 1 !!

Save the hassle and try and source a rev 2 engine loom and ecu.

I'll have a look around !! I definitely have the ecu, but no loom - well I've got a hacked up one but wouldn't sell that to anyone as it gave me crap.

ok im gonna give you some advice which at this point you dont want to hear but give it 6 months with a working rev2 turbo engine you will be glad you heard! Buy a rev3 loom and ecu! install this as it will give you much much more tuning ability, i appreciate at this point you just want a working engine but you are going to the hassle of stripping the loom and ecu so add one thats worth it. i think there are 1 or 2 other peices you need but im sure cost wise it wont be massively different, although your car will be a different animal altogether!

Think about it, get some more advice, think about it some more, then do it! in 6 months to a year you will be gutted you if you dont!

Problem is I dont really know what I'm doing so I want the easiest option. Just something I can plug straight in without having to change anything.
