Passenger side mirror has ceased to fold

Post by prezjamin »

Passenger side mirror has ceased to fold, the drivers side one works fine. Any ideas what the problem could be (fuse, motor ?)

My drivers side stopped working a while back, and so never bothered with them! I tried it again the other day, and now none of them fold!
Im clueless as to why they wont work!

My guess is that its bad contacts, ageing wiring....... The wing mirrors get a bit of a battering from the environment unfortunately!!

If you really wanted to sort it for cheap, take the mirror apart, get a multimeter, and check to see whether there's power getting all the way through from the main loom. I presume it would stop somewhere, and at this point you would need to renew wires, solder etc to sort it.

Obviously check fuses first though as this is quick to do!!

Good luck

no worries, its Leon actually

Erm, I have a UK car with no retractable mirrors so don't know where the fuse is. Try the driver's side kick panel underneath the front bonnet catch.....

Bit like me i suppose, my reverse lights have not been working, but I do have retractable mirrors!!

I will have to renew the wires for reversing lights as a brand new switch recently on gear box didnt do the trick. wonder where the power starts from in the first place??

If you have the option (if its a GT you will, if its a GTS you may have had it added), it will be above/below the wing mirror adjustments switch on the driver's control panel. It will be obvious - have a play with your knobs
