Speedo prob

Post by samoli »

Hi
recently bought a Mk2 N/A 1993.
ive got a prob with my speedo. :( it reads a higher speed than im actually doing.

the guy before me replaced the clocks for reasons i dont know, and he has replaced the fascias.

my trip goes up to fast!
somy mileage is going up quickly.

but the only thing i can think he has done is put a kph clock on from an import and put a mph fascia on, which would make sense.

is there a more serious issue or does this sound correct??

the speedo is on the left and rev counter on the right.

cheers

A kmh dial face would go up to 180. Does yours?

It sounds to me as if you've got an import that hasn't been de-limited (i.e. is still reading in kmh) and the dials have been changed to mph. However, I'm assuming that you've got a UK model.

I'm not an expert, but I have changed my dial faces and fitted a delimiter (mine's an import).
I suspect my speedo needle doesn't read correctly (I've not been done for speeding so it can't be that far out). *touch wood*

I'm pretty sure my milometer is right though.

Unless someone else can come up with a solution, I'd recommend taking it to a garage to be re-calibrated.
