Electric mirrors and wing mirror retract

Post by pegsy »

Hi every1,

I've just registered to this site and already after reading throough a few forums i've found it really helpful. But there is one thing i'm slightly stuck with. Currently the right wing mirror isn't retracting and also the electric mirrors have stopped working. I've only had the car about 6 months and it's worked perfectly up untill the window regulator snapped. I had this fitted but i'm beginning to to think has damp got into the control panel on the door?

Everything else seems to be working ie, windows, central locking etc and this has now become a pain.

Has anyone else experieneced the same problem or if nopt can anyone help?

cheers in advance

the wiring harnesses can fail where they flex at the door hinge over time. i noticed my wing mirrors would only fold occasionaly and then stopped althogether. then the central locking started becoming erratic. replacing the door wiring harness solved the problem.

UK cars don't generally have folding mirrors, yes they are an extra.

However, most imports do have folding mirrors.

You should have a switch near your window and mirror controls (on drivers side) so it should be obvious if you have that option or not.........

Mine do the same. I've checked fuses and they're fine, there's also voltage at the back of the switch when I try to retract so the switch is ok. Dunno what it is that's stopping them working now :?

Take off the door card, and make sure that the connector block is connected properly to the door switch. There are two connectors coming off the switch, the one that controlls the mirrors came loose on mine, took me ages to work out why....doh!! #-o
