Replacing the cluych on a MR2

Post by John O David »

I have a '91 MR2 that needs a clutch. Can any one tell me if the engine and trans has to come out of the car to replace it?

You have to undo the left hand engine mount and the front engine mount, take the clutch release cylinder off and drop the gearbox.

It is bloody heavy, but you should be able to manage it if you put a jack and piece of wood underneath when you take it off. then carfully drop it down.

Personally if you havent done it before, I would just take it to a garage and let them worry about it....for the sake of 100 quid..
