Few companies already offering kits to turn the mr2 electric. Not my cup of tea but came across the above company a while ago

This might be the future lol, well if mayor khan gets his way we'll be paying £12.50 every day we drive the car in london. Current proposal is anything older than 2006 will need to pay the charge!

Would there be a weight reduction? Batteries weigh as much as a block?

I admit a silent Mr2 is kind of pointless.

No shifting. Fast acceleration??

Yeah ok you might get down the 1/4 mile faster but i know who would win on a 150-200mile round trip by hrs and hrs. LOL

Maybe a hybrid would be a better idea?

Electric cars don't really float my boat but a hybrid motor could persuade me especially if the electric motors were used as a kers type boost.

Most of the motors link straight to the oem gearbox so may keep it a bit more intresting however as mentioned a hybrid may be more fun. Possible 4wd application with front wheels driven by electric motors?

Watching that im quite impressed. I assume the mk3 shell is a bit lighter too is probably an ideal candidate for electric conversion :-k
