[Mk2] [Generic] Steering rack bushes

Post by tiff_lee »

Currently got the steering rack removed for a rebuild and the old rubber bushes are pretty tired, anyone replaced these with polybushes, is it even worth it?
I've yet to price up replacement toyota bushes but powerflex offer replacement purple and black variants although a little $$.

I've got the powerflex black series in my rack, they're very stiff, cant really comment on the difference (if any real difference) they make to steering feel on their own as they were fitted at the same time as a lot of other parts. but if the front end is in the air you may as well replace the 20yr old rubber ones for what they cost

Just had a quick look and genuine bushes come in at a surprisingly reasonable $20, the powerflex black are about $65 with shipping.

Although that's the least of my worries my rack and power steering motor are in a right state ><
