Rev5 UK Gen3 3SGTE conversion - parts checklist.

Post by SonicSW20 »

Hi all, just want to run my parts list by you to see if there's any obvious parts missing from the donor car before it gets scrapped. I have the following -

  • Complete engine + all ancillaries
  • Gearbox
  • shifter cables
  • LSD driveshafts
  • Hubs
  • Complete EFI system - ECU, sensors, resistor packs, coil, igniter etc.
  • Clutch pedal (do I also need master cylinder?)
  • Throttle cable
  • Engine wiring loom
  • Passenger side wiring loom
  • Mongoose exhaust system
  • Stock intercooler and an aftermarket intercooler kit, looks to be a Greddy copy.

Additional parts for engine refurb / initial mods
  • BRD downpipe
  • Greddy Profec OLED boost controller
  • Exedy OE replacement clutch kit
  • Gen3 3SGTE complete gasket and seal kit
  • Replacement studs / nuts where required
  • Stoney Racing complete hose kit (ancillary and coolant)
  • Walbro 255 fuel pump with MR2 fitting kit
  • Water pump
  • Timing belt, tensioner pulleys, hydraulic tensioner
  • Driveshaft seals
  • Rear wheel bearings

Am I missing anything obvious?

TURBO!

Do you already have your refurb/initial mod list?
I have a new oem gasket kit (will need to check exactly what is ther), and I'll have a 255lph pump coming out the breaker in about 2/3weeks.
Also got the Greddy profec II and an OS giken single clutch kit if those may be of interest? :thumleft:

 included with 'complete engine + all ancillaries' - would be here all day listing every single component!

I have most of it now. Friend works at a Toyota dealership and let me use his discount so I'm getting decent prices on the OE parts. Thanks for the offer though!

save yourself all the trouble, and buy one already converted :D
Then its just drive & enjoy (unless you get lots of enjoyment from spannering of course)

Bit late for that, I have nearly everything in the list in the OP already!

Will be back to square one with the rest of the car then as well. Also, not many sonic shadow turbos around.

I wouldn't change the passenger loom. Just a few basics pin swaps on 22pin ecu plug. And one wire iirc in the fuse box. It's super easy. Also you won't need the fuel pump relay and resistor pack that way. I don't know if you listed but fuel pump too.

Walbro 255 with MR2 fitting kit arrived last week :thumleft:

The guys who are helping me with the conversion have done it using the passenger loom which is why I was also planning on doing it that way. Not having to remove and re-run it would be nice though so I think I'll do the ECU repin instead!

You might know the answer to this Driftlimits... As I understand it I can retain the OE Rev5 alarm system, but can I keep the stock immobiliser or is that linked to the stock engine ECU?

Tackling the wiring this weekend...

Looks like the Rev5 NA body loom is different to the Rev3 Turbo one - I'd prefer to use my existing loom if possible as it's not been hacked up to install an aftermarket alarm. As you can see the Rev5 one has an extra connector in the middle. Does that connector just not get used?

If you have a list of the pin swaps required that would be amazing!

don't need the clutch master as they are all the same, however the turbo slave is bigger bore than the NA, but both work.

Nah buddy you'll be changing your ecu that has 3 plugs. 2 are for the engine, the last one, your body loom is the other one.

Defo do the repin it's so much better and easier. Call me if you have beef or want to know exactly how.

I wouldn't mess with clutch either, I wouldn't even remove the slave from the car if it is in good working order.

Received and replied to your PM, thanks!

I have the clutch pedal anyway as it is different on the turbos, that's an easy install.
