Hi
Thinking about swapping out cast iron for stainless.
Has anyone done this /got any advice
There's these on ebay (curious if anyone has one has feedback/pertinent observations)
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/STAINLESS-STE ... 0519827850
Ostensibly identical to jap speed but half the price ?
Interested to hear people's thoughts.

Don't bother, you will see 0 performance difference and just end up with a poo badly made manifold that will crack.
Std exh mani is good for 400+ bhp and i'm assuming if you were aiming for higher power levels you'd be looking at something that wasn't knocked up in a shed in china anyway.
Here is how much a well built manifold will cost

And again there is 0 point in buying one of these unless you are going for mahoosive power.

Good to know, I'll just clean and tart it up with high temperature paint then.
Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Rev 3 turbo exhaust manifold
TBH I think having a heat shield over the top is more important.

Does it make much difference? I can't even remember if mine still has it on or not. I think it might have not fit after changing the turbo, you can tell i've been regularly using my car over winter lol.
Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Rev 3 turbo exhaust manifold
Pete had to trim some of mine away. I guess if you have intercooler pipes running over it having a glowing hot 300 degree manifold won't help plus I think it looks far better to be there, but that's only my personal opinion.
You may well be right, in reality it may do SFA.
