Rev 5 Sonic Shadow with Rev 3 Turbo Conversion

Post by Krish »

With regret my Rev 5 Sonic Shadow with Rev 3 turbo conversion is up for sale.

The engine and car history is known and everything listed in parts and maintenance, I have receipts for.

This has been a project of mine for over a year and during that time my circumstances have changed (bought a house) so after all the time and effort getting the car up to spec and running great, I have to sell her.

Engine:
~90k on engine
Top end refresh 40k ago
Steel shaft conversion by turbo technics ~40k ago
Cambelt/waterpump done 20k ago
Oil service just done
New auxiliary belt
HKS induction Kit
Aussie downpipe
Berk Twin Exit Exhaust
Magnetic oil sump
New camcover gasket dizzy o-ring (all genuine parts) - only engine leak now sorted!
Manual Boost controller - Needs fitting - possibly this week. Need a dry day to set the thing up!
Engine comes from a forum member’s car that was written off and poorly repaired. The shell was dangerous but engine was pampered as the owner never knew!!!

Suspension:
Stock suspension
New track rod ends (inner and outer)
New front top mounts
Alignment done less than 300 miles ago

Brakes:
EBC grooved/drilled discs all around
Ferrodo pad all around
Both front calipers are brand new
Full brake bleed

Bodywork is mint, the front end was resprayed in my ownership to get rid of stone chips and the colour difference in the original paint on the front bumper (always bugged me about the sonic shadow). HPI clear with no signs of any accident damage.

Both sills have been replaced by the previous owner. The job is good. The bottom of the driver’s door has some rust. The whole car has been undersealed up to the front arches. This area needs finishing off.

Everything works in the car exactly as it should apart from:
Auto up feature front driver’s window. Window goes up and down perfectly but you have to hold it.
Aerial mast goes up and down but not fully opening or fully retracting. There is a repair kit for the aerial but unsure if this applies to the mast as the motor is working.

MOT until Sept next year.

Honest car, nice and quick, great traction and all new tyres and alignment done.

Yeah well, you know, a big shouty GIMMIE A DISCOUNT SELL FOR LESS is slightly less subtle than a quiet PM of 'are you accepting offers?'

After looking at the turbo rebuild paperwork in more detail, it turns out the ceramic shaft was replaced with a steel on and work was also done to the turbine and compressor housing.

The turbo does take a little longer to spool but I can genuinely say, its shifting more air and you can feel the difference when on boost.

Having my black rev 3 turbo to compare against really highlights the the difference. Yes my black stock ct20b spools quicker but on full boost it doesn't flow as much as this modified one.

Thanks
