More questions from me...
Looking at boost controllers. Pretty much set on the Greddy Profec OLED - http://www.greddy.com/products/electronics/profec/ http://greddy.com/featured/42
Costs a bit more than a GFB G-force, but I much prefer the look of the Greddy. Essentially, I'm choosing it on looks
Considering it costs ~£300, is there anything else I should be looking at as an alternative before I buy it?

Wow, they have sure gone up in price , I have this controller and it is easily the best i have owned, not just for ease of setting up but the display is awesome, unfortunately a vote for this rather than pointing you to something else may not help you much
Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Gen3 boost controller options
GBP to JPY exchange rate has taken a bit of a hit around the 23rd June (lets not bring politics into this thread though...) http://www.xe.com/currencycharts/?from= ... PY&view=1Y
It is slowly recovering. I'm not buying til next year so perhaps prices will drop again. Cheapest I've found from a UK seller is £285 at the moment.
A vote for it is a good thing, I really like how it looks at the feature set. I more want to be sure that I'm not missing something from another manufacturer for a similar price

I've got the greddy and I'm really happy with it, but I bought it when the yen was weak.

I saw that the other day and it looks really good, keenly priced too for the features it has

Are there any UK sellers for that Rob? Will cost quite a bit more than the Greddy by time shipping and tax is paid!
Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Gen3 boost controller options
I don't know mate, it was reduced to $279 for Black Friday week but has gone back up now which is a shame.
To be honest, if it's just a basic 1.2 bar stock turbo set up I'd probably get a manual controller, or an adjustable actuator (I think Kinugawa do one with a selection of springs for about £90) and put the rest in a piggy bank for when you upgrade to an ECU that does boost control

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Gen3 boost controller options
I don't think it'll ever go standalone ECU to be honest. Car is for daily duties, stock ECU + boost controller makes more sense.
I know an MBC will be fine, but we all like a shiny gadget for the car! Doubles up as a boost gauge too which I need. I also like the idea of having switchable boost levels.
Looks like that one from the US does everything out of the box though, whereas the Greddy needs the MAP addon to do the boost by gear clever stuff - although I don't think I really *need* that.

I use a blitz dsbc spec R. Bit old skool, but does the job perfectly.
Running 1.2 bar.

Gazza, you speak as someone who is convinced he'll never mod the car.
Look at me i said I'll stay at usual 300 fly... now look at me...
I say get the best you can, EBC are great because you can change on the fly. Which you might need when the weather changes.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Gen3 boost controller options
I am confident I won't be going crazy with the engine. It's a daily and I don't think that mixes well with a any build that's going to require a standalone
