As im getting ready to fit my chargecooler and decat id thought it would be a good idea to refresh my ct26 on my rev 2.
Now i can get a brand new ct26 from tcb for 390+vat with all gaskets. However if im going this route i was thinking of upgrading it a bit. I like the spool and punch of the ct26 but want it to hold its power to the redline.
Im not looking for big power as i will probably only go as far as rev 3 management.
I could get a ct20b but they are hard to find in as new condition so will need a look over and refurbish if i do find one.
The other option was to hybrid the ct26 so over the weekend i emailed a few companies and only one got back to me - turbo dynamics.
They propose a full refresh with new seals and bearings and will change the compressor wheel for a billet (?) wheel which will give what im after apparently.he did mention replacing the conpressor wheel for a 60-1 but said this was a bit dated now so advised the billet wheel. Price for this is £495+vat plus postage to them.
Has anyone used them before? I tried emailing all the other usual turbo specialists but this is the only one thats got back to me and we been emailing each other back and forwards all day. Im reluctant to send my ct26 to anyone who doesnt even respond to an email for a sale so im hoping turbo dynamics seem a good choice?

Do you know if they also get some work done on the exhaust side of the CT26? It's very restrictive and the main responsable for the famous power loss of these turbos when revving past 5.5k rpm
I guess you'll get half the work done if they only put a bigger wheel without reworking the exhaust side.

I know nothing on how turbos work.
I just said in the email that I like the current punch and spool of my ct26 but i want it to hold the power to the redline instead of dropping off around 5k.
They recommended changing the compressor wheel to a billet wheel. They said they would also refresh the bearings and seals all in for that price.

Would you consider doing any work yourself? for £495+VAT you could pick up a CT20B, fit new steel turbine, extended tip billet compressor wheel, new bearing kit and have the assembly balanced.

The problem is finding a ct20b. Hence why im thinking of staying with my ct26.

Yeah fair enough, someone must have a blown one somewhere all you really need to ensure is the housings are in sound condition as the rest would be replaced anyway.

Still pretty hard to find. I was looking at td06 and gt28 but i think these are overkill for what im after. I be happy with around 300bhp so im sure a hybrid or ct20b would be enough.
