MR2 MK2 Rev 4 Tintop Turbo - TRD Replica

Post by Chris_9011 »

No longer testing the waters, this is properly for sale now... but I'm in no way desperate for a sale so can wait until the right offer comes along...

Here for sale is my MR2 MK2 TRD replica, based on a revision 4 (1997) tintop turbo. One of the best replica TRD's I've seen, complete in stunning 040 Super White 2, and one of the best fitting bodykits and finish. Mouldings come complete with all the side strips that the genuine TRD kits came with (a very uncommon thing with replica kits).
A few choice mods to improve the car...

Engine modifications:
- Motoria stainless steel twin exit Exhaust
- Apexi Induction Kit with brand new, genuine, cone filter (2k miles ago)
- Blitz Blow Off Valve, recirculated back into the induction piping (using a custom made adaptor)
- XS Power uprated side moult intercooler, and increased diameter hard piping to match
- Exedy clutch (10k miles ago)
- Blitz AVC-R boost controller (which can be set to - off/1 bar/1.2 bar) - mounted in place of the ashtray
- HKS Turbo Timer

Image

Wheels & Tyres:
- Rota Grid, 18" x 8.5J ET20 front wheels
- Falken FK452 235/35/R18 tyres fitted to the front (approx. 4mm tread remaining)
- Rota Grid Drift, 18" x 10J ET15 rear wheels
- Bridgestone Potenza 265/35/R18 tyres fitted to the rear (less than 500 miles use - approx 7mm+ tread remaining)
All wheels and tyres are suited to the extra width of the bodykits arches, and have been chosen so they sit flush to the arches with no need for any wheels spacers
- Aluminium spigot rings

Brakes:
- CRN grooved brake discs all round
- Mintex Pads all round
- Braided brake lines
- HKS F-706 glycol ether racing brake fluid

Image
Image

Suspension:
- HSD MONOPRO coilovers
- spring ratings 10kg/6kg
- Integrated pillowball top mounts front and rear

Other notable modifications:
- Recaro Sport Topline seats (from a Mitsubishi Evo8), sat on custom made adjustable rails
- Suede door cards inserts to match the above seat configuration
- TRD rear strut brace, powdercoated in anthracite and laquered
- Gas Ram kits, front/frunk bonnet, and engine lid
- Genuine MOMO Millenium steering wheel and genuine boss kit
- Anniversary sill trims
- Really, really thick MR2 carpet mats
- Rear window and quarter windows Limo tinted, & side windows tinted to the legal limits
- Brand new windscreen fitted last year
- Full clear rear indicator modification to the Revision 3 light clusters
- Quad brake/side light modification
- Crystal black front indicator/sidelight clusters
- Crystal black side turn signals

Having changed the speedometer dial to convert the car from KMPH to MPH without the need for a plastic dial overlay, there was 71327 miles (114790kms) on the original kmph clock. Since fitting the brand new mph dial that was already on zero, the car has covered a further 10707 miles.
So, the car (chassis/engine) has covered a total of 82k miles, which is a total average of 4300 miles per year...
(still have the old KMPH clocks in the box to prove the mileage)

Recent service items:
Having a few items pop up as advisories on the MOT, I got them sorted pretty much straight away:
- both rear wheel bearings replaced at Rogue Motorsport (Genuine Lucas parts used)
- Front droplinks replaced with genuine Toyota parts
- Exhaust completely resealed at CAT/exhaust joint

Oil and filter changed every 3k miles (or yearly) for FUCHS Titan SuperSynth 5w40 and a genuine Toyota Oil Filter direct from the main dealer

Dynograph reading:
Using Surrey Rolling Road's dynograph, the car reached an estimated flywheel power of
- 294 bhp (estimated at the flywheel)
- 255 ft.lbs (torque)

1/4 mile drag time:
The car managed to run a time of 13.7s at Santa Pod Raceway, with myself as a (very) novice driver at the wheel:

This car pulls strong, and true. Everything that it has needed in my ownership has been done, regardless of cost for the best that I could get.

There isn't and rust on the sills, or the rear wheel arches... there's hardly even any surface rust on any of the underbody components (obviously being a 19 year old car any potential owner should expect a little surface rust though, but it is only a small amount of surface rust).
The car was imported in 2009, and I am the 3rd UK owner having had it for the previous 3 years.
The first owner had the car for around a year (maybe a little more) and did very little mileage
The second owner (Fimmo - aka Barry Fimister) bought the car, and proceeded to fit the TRD kit and have the car fully sprayed in 2K car paint. He did very little miles in it during and after the tranformation, and kept it dry stored for most of his ownership
I've done around 11k miles since buying it in October 2013, but never on salted roads so the underneath is perfect...

The price I hear you ask... well, to build a car somewhere close to the same standard as this one, you would be looking at spending well into the £25k+ price bracket, I know how much this one has cost to build... so, with that in mind, I think this one's worth every penny at -
£11,000 ono

Please, please, please can I ask that there's no 'that's not worth that comments', I know how much it's worth, and that's where my price has come from... cheers

Stunning car and you really have to see it in the flesh to do it justice.

As for the estimate of how much it would cost to build well I completely agree (having built a TRD widebody myself but with a V6).

This is a well known car within the MR2 community and quite a unique beast to own. GLWTS Chris :thumleft:

I meant buyer, but good for the seller as well if he got close to what he wanted. Not easy to sell niche cars that have had this much spent on them. Awesome looking machine, hopefully the new owner treats it well.

The way of the MR2 forums, people only posting 'too expensive mate' :)

Joking aside, that's worth every god damn penny. Absolutely amazing car, good luck with the sale. You see Evos going for around this money, and they're no way near as nice looking or as fun to drive.

Surprised you didn't also get the wheel nazis telling you how your car will self destruct too. (p.s. Those wheels perfectly suit that car). One of the nicest MK2s I've seen :thumleft:
