[Mk2] [Generic] Rays wheels on eBay

Post by yokomomr4bx »

Hey guys, just thought I would bring this listing to your attention. They're not right for me, I'm after some 16" 5 spokes, but I've had a good chat with the owner about fitments etc. Sound guy and sent me a fair few pictures of fitment with coilovers and standard struts. Anyway, i'll leave this here and hope I'm not breaking any forum rules, I post the link with permission of the seller.

Lot of work to get those to fit an MR2.

9J ET35 front
10J ET35 rear

I can't imagine what the handling is like with such wide wheels on the front of the car.

Ideal set up for 17s on a MK2 is:

front 17x8J ET 35-38
Rear 17x9J ET35-38

Smart wheels though. They don't look like 9s and 10s on the car, more like 8s and 9s.

235 on a 10" rim? That doesn't sound right

Agreed, that's stretched on 9J!!

Shame there's no wheel spec pics included. Usually a sticker or engraved on the rear.

Rear with the right tyre and arch cutting , doable :thumleft:

Front oooooo pretty tricky .. you would need 215/40 on that and alot of arch work ..

But f*ck me it would look AWESOME \:D/

:thumleft:

Ps. see it done :oldtongue: 9jj front that is :thumleft:

Because unless his car has undergone massive surgery on the fronts, those wheels won't fit a MK2.

Plus, the 235 tyres on the rear and the 215s on the front would look mega stretched.

Plus 17x10 rear ET35 would be sticking out past the wheel arch....

That is not what a 215 on a 9J looks like, or what 235 on a 10J looks like.

That is also not how those widths and those offsets would sit on an MR2.

Also, I've never seen a set of those in 17x10J.

Given that they don't actually know the offsets, I would assume that the original stickers are missing. As they are splits, they might not have size stamps as it depends on what barrel they are bolted to. I bet they are 8J/9J, and they've measured them incorrectly.

Oh, I'm not disagreeing. I've seen 9J on the front of an MR2. But work is required.

a 17x9 ET35 will not just 'fit' a stock MK2.
