Hi Guys
So I've put up with this noise pretty much since I bought the car last year,
Pacific Works oiled up the clutch arm twice and it hasn't seemed to do anything, doesn't happen all the time.
predominately when the cars cold, and dry / hot weather outside.
nothing wrong with the clutch just the noise that could make you want to test out flight of beahy head !
anyone had this noise before and rectified it ?

thanks,
jordan.

Mine used to do it, and hasn't done it since I changed the clutch and greased all metal on metal contact points. Thing is since the clutch, pressure plate, and release bearing were all changed I couldn't tell you which one was making the noise!
Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Squeaky / Creaking noise from clutch ... F**king annoying !
This is what I feared TBH, the noise seems to disappear when the cars hot, which lead me to believe its something internal in the clutch housing.
Guess ill have to put up with it until I need a new clutch

Unfortunately its the clutch release fork. There is a rubber boot you can spray grease into being careful not to get it on other things. I did this and it helps but comes back after a while.
When I fitted my new clutch I made sure to clean everything properly and polish the ball pivot to a mirror shine and grease all contact points. Been fine since

Hi Mate,
Any specific type of grease that I could use to help do this until I have to fit a new clutch ?
Ill make sure that everything is polished and greased when the clutch is done !

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Squeaky / Creaking noise from clutch ... F**king annoying !
I wouldn't be too keen on spraying anything down there tbh, definitely don't want anything like that getting on your clutch or flywheel! Any aerosol grease is going to be quite thin as well.
Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Squeaky / Creaking noise from clutch ... F**king annoying !
I used white lithium grease (not ideal) maybe a moly spray grease would be better. If you aim it right and only squirt a little you shouldn't get it where it not supposed to. But it's not ideal, and may make the squeek worse once it comes back.

Mine does this too but only sometimes...also not as loud.
Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Squeaky / Creaking noise from clutch ... F**king annoying !
So the general consensus is leave it and then tackle the issue when I have to change the clutch ?
I wouldn't mind getting some Viscous grease and keep on top of keeping the fork lubricated,
but I also dont want to risk getting any on vital parts. ?

Mine sometimes does this too, flipping annoying, I went and got some lithium grease but nervous about spraying it in the wrong place, even considered changing the clutch just to get rid of it
At the moment keep fingers crossed every time I start the car hoping it's having a quiet day lol..

yeah to be honest I'm not to keen on spraying lubricant on there now people have mentioned that it could land on the flywheel and clutch itself !
I know the feeling mate, do you notice that the sound kind of reduces when the car gets hot ?
Also thought about changing the clutch just to get rid of the noise, probably will in the near future to be honest !

Hi mate,
Mine seems pretty random I thought it was damp that caused it, but last Sunday dry and hot and it was back. Amazing how much it affects my enjoyment of the car. If I find a way of solving it I'll let you know.

Cheers for info, mine still has the original clutch (on101k). think I will get on the phone to TCB this week and get a replacement the Exedy £78.50 plus VAT looks like the one.
So it's the ball pivot that needs to be polished and greased? any other tips so I can give the local independent garage I use clear instructions - who are really good to be fair.
Thanks
Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Squeaky / Creaking noise from clutch ... F**king annoying !
Rob, try Ade Glover (MR2Bitz) for an Exedy OE replacement clutch for an NA. Was a fair bit cheaper than that a few months ago!
Yes, you need to grease all metal on metal contact points. The BGB shows you everything you need to grease.
