1996 Rev 3 Goodwood Green UK N/A T-Bar - £1250

Post by kirk »

Well after a year of ownership it's time to part ways with my MR2. I did have big plans for this but something has come up which I can't really pass on at this point.

Genuine Rev3 N/A UK T-bar in goodwood green
First registration date - 01.08.96
128k on the clock currently and will increase as it's being used as a daily currently
12 Month MOT (Expires 18.03.17)
Based in Oldham

Has a lot of paperwork for the work carried out in it's lifetime and includes original owners manual. The following is a list is work I've had done since owning it.

New Aluminium radiator from MR2BEN
New Toyota thermostat and seal
Water temp sensor
12 litres of Toyota red
NGK Iridium plugs
New Toyota Rotor Arm
Blueprint distributor cap
Drop links all around
Air filter
Fuel filter
New Bosch battery
Sbits shifter cable bearings
New Exedy clutch
Front track rod ends
Rear ball joints
Front engine mount
New drivers side handbrake cable
Oil and filter done at the same time as the clutch
Full set of replacement tyres - Continental fronts, Dunlop rears

Mechanically it's solid. Engine pulls strong for an N/A. Cambelt was done at 90k. Still has stock exhaust and cat. Doesn't burn or use oil so very healthy for it's age.
Suspension is standard springs and shocks. No visible leaks

The car is pretty much stock. Paintwork is above average - 6.5/10. It's honest for 20 year old car, usual stone chips over the front end. It's had a few bits that were done before I bought it. A J spec rear bumper was fitted as the previous owner didn't like the look of the UK number plate. Front bumper looks to have been painted at some point as well. In terms of rust I'll be honest, the passenger sill has started to show minor signs of rust. Nothing serious yet but will probably need addressing later in life. The drivers side is covered in stonechip so I presume there has been work carried out on them in the past. It's also fitted with an auto watch alarm system. Wheels aren't too bad but could probably do with a quick refurb. I also replaced the crystal indicators for factory rev 5 units.

Interior wise it has the half leather seats. It's the typical wear on the drivers seat bolster mostly, passengers seat in a bit better shape with only minor cracking. It has the full black rev1 headlining which I fitted myself and finishes the interior off nicely. Drop a set of seats in it and you'll be laughing.

Perfect car for someone who wants some fun over the summer or a potential project perhaps. Some people aren't really a fan of the green but I think it's a stunning colour and really pops in the sunlight 8)

I have been asked a few times now whether the car is a UK spec. Yes the car is a genuine UK spec. I'm aware it has J spec number plates on it but this is something that was done by the previous owner.

I still have the original UK spec front plate holder which was sold with the car when I bought it and is now on the car.

I can send further proof to anyone who maybe interested via PM.

People are probably asking you to confirm it's a UK spec as it has half leather seats

Have you had a look at the inner sills, removed foam if still there, etc?

T-bar leaks at all?

Does the steering wheel adjust in/out or only up/down?

£1600 is too much for me but if you drop it further I could be interested.

To be honest I'm flexible on the price to some extent. You're always guarantee'd to get knocked down some so you've got to add a bit of head room for yourself. I know the very least I'd take for it.

T bar's have had the sealant treatment and the offset eccentric guides fitted. You get a very slight leak on the passenger side if you leave it on an uneven surface. Not a flash flood like.

The foams have been removed by previous owner, I know that because he showed them me when he sold it. I have no idea what the insides look like currently and I won't get chance to check for a week or so, extremely busy and the weather is crap.

I've mostly been asked because it has import plates on it. As I said previously, the guy who owned it before me made the changes, I just never felt the need to change it back.

Price has been dropped as I could really use this gone by the end of April.

For those interested, this is the current state of the sills.

Make of them what you will. They look to of been flooded with some form of Waxoyl. Externally it's not that bad but that's just my opinion.

Now then.

Spoke to you a couple of weeks ago before I went on holiday.
We are on our way home now and I'm hoping to find out about that job I applied for when I get back.
So long as I get it, I'll be in touch as I am seriously interested.

Thanks, Stuart.

No problem Stu. Had a fair bit of interest as of late. A couple of people are trying to arrange a day to come up and see it. It's unfortunately going to have to be first to show up with the cash takes it.

Was hoping to offload next weekend, spend the week with a courtesy car from work and pick the new one up the weekend after but work have decided I need to head over to one of our other branches for 3 days to help sort things out. I may or may not sort need it I won't know till next week.
