GEN 4 3sgte Cosmos blue Rev 5

Post by sinjen »

With great regret the time has come to sell my Gen 4 (GEN not REV) converted Uk cosmos blue Rev 5 (1998, S registration). Genuine reasons for having to give her up and I will be gutted to see her go.

She started life with a standard 3sge but didn't stay standard for long. Ultimately, the plan was always to transplant a different engine in. It had to be a special engine though, something a bit different but not too different that it would detract from the original feel of the car. The 4th generation 3sgte was developed from the already legendary 3rd Generation 3sgte as found in the last Mr2 turbo/Celica GT4's.

A stronger block, completely reworked head design, mani/turbo combination, OBD2 and coil on plug to mention just a few of the changes.

265bhp as standard (compared to the Gen 3's 245bhp), it is a rocket ship. The turbo kicks in strongly at 2000rpm and pulls to the redline (7250).

The bodywork is in very good condition for a 17 year old car. The usual age related marks and comes with an extensive full service history. FTSH up to 50k and then entrusted to a renowned Mr2 specialist thereafter.

The odometer reads 85500, the engine swap occurring at 80k miles.

I only know of 3 other Mr2's with the Gen 4 in Europe, one in Germany, one in Holland and one in Ireland, so this is the only one of its kind in the UK and I believe the latest Revision with the engine, possibly worldwide.

Engine

Gen 4 3sgte from the ST215 Caldina
E153 Gearbox with LSD
3" custom downpipe
Departure Pro exhaust
Fuellabs FPR
4 brand new coils
GTS Chris IC shroud with Spal fan
OS Giken twin plate clutch and flywheel
Apexi Induction kit

AEM Wideband A/F kit
Greddy Profec OLED EBC

Chassis

Yellow Bilstein B6 dampers
Apex springs
Whiteline ARB's
Adjustable drop links
Polybushed
HEL braided brake lines (in purple of course)
EBC red stuff brake pads front
EBC green stuff brake pads rear
CRN grooved zinc plated brake discs front
Cusco front strut brace
Standard turbo rear brace

Wheels:
17" Lenso D1r
8" front, 9"rear
Falken fk452 rear tyres with good tread
Front tyres have good tread

This car is genuinely lovely to drive, a real head turner and very fast.

Test drives are welcome if you're a serious buyer but only with over the phone proof of insurance, otherwise I'll be driving :)

This is a very rare setup and the engine is a beaut.

Price is £7250 ono
Enquiries via this thread, PM or email me at [email protected]

No timewasters please, genuine enquiries only. I am not desperate to sell this car.

Haha, thanks dude.
They were the forged Enkei Tarmac Evo's, 8" width ET35 all around with a 20mm spacer on the back, although I think 15mm would've been perfect :thumleft:

I mean - only because the engine was never fitted by Toyota.

And it's the biggest selling point of the car - and there's no pictures of it! :-s

There's a load of pictures on his build thread on MR2OC.

Possibly considering this car. I'm going to be in the market for a nice turbo in the next month or so.

That meet in the last pic looks familiar. :)
1 day short of 11 months ago.

Hopefully the car will stay in our community and not disappear into a void.
Another purple tarmac eater is well into its 7th year with me.

Very nice car and best of luck with the sale. Its good to see prices of good examples on the rise. I hope you get a quick sale and for your asking price as I can appreciate the cost and care that has gone into your car's final iteration of development.
