[Mk2] [Generic] Removing stock amplifier

Post by wenguin »

Hi folks

My passenger side stock premium sound system amp was rattling like hell so I removed it only to later realise that the power to the head unit is linked to it - disconnected the amp means the head unit no longer turns on, but I'm not sure why.

I've temporarily reconnected the amp so I can get sound - does anyone know if I can easily bypass the amp on this side somehow, allowing me to use the stereo without it?

I have a dedicated amplifier in the frunk and have completely removed all the stock speakers/subs from my setup.

Edit: I believe it's an active amp if that makes a difference.

I've found this thread which suggests creating a connection directly between a few of the connectors. not 100% it's compatible with my rev3 uk car but I'll give it a go if no one else has any suggestions?
