CLOSED - 2nd Aeroware Polyurethane Front Splitter Buy

Post by ashley »

OK- so there looks to be some interest, if we can get 5 then I'll organise another group buy.

This is for Aeroware or Crux Racing front lips for the Mk2 MR2.

Price is £150.66 each excluding UK postage costs, this covers US purchase price, postage and packing to the UK, customs & import charges.

You will still need to organize a courier for UK delivery from Gloucester area, and throw me some beer money for my time and effort to package the bl$$dy things up (not fun!)...lets say £5 each unless you come and pick them up in person.

So £150.66 collected or £155.66 + you organise a courier.

First buy here: http://www.imoc.co.uk/forums/viewtopic. ... sc&start=0

I could- but the postage is likely to be very expensive!! Lets wait and see if we get any interest in this group buy, if it's likely to go ahead I will find out for you :thumleft:

I have to ask and see this is no hijack but why £150 for PU when we do GRP for £134.99RRP with further discounts on GB?

Maybe some owners prefer urethane. It is much more forgiving than GRP.

Because no one in the UK is making them in PU, and the cost is put up by postage from the US and import taxes.

Why choose PU over GRP? Simple- this is the part of the car most at risk from hitting speed bumps, etc...GRP smashes, PU bounces :thumleft:

Thanks for letting me know, I might look into making them in PU if its preferred over GRP and Carbon :thumleft:

Just got a PU front lip for my Supra and would definitely go for PU over GRP in future on any low car... really bendy and just pops back into shape.

In fact if I get another MR2 in time I'll probably be in for an Aeroware one :thumleft:

Only negative is it needs painting properly using adhesion promoter if you're planning to paint it, if you just prep, prime and paint it like you would GRP the paint will crack/flake.

Really tempted! I'm caught between fitting my Border bumper or getting this :|

Also, where would they be once in the UK? (Might consider collecting, depending on location)

OK, I'm based in Luton, but my partner's in Colne at the moment, so could potentially collect on my way back from hers one weekend.

With light-weight vented wings, a carbon fibre bonnet and no spare wheel, I'm a bit concerned about lift at speeds, (partly that I think my speedo conversion/delimiter is not cutting off PAS early enough)... so although I'll look at grabbing some speed flaps, one of the things about this is that it looks like it would offer decent downforce. Couldn't say for sure, but that's the only thing I'm thinking about now.

I'm a definitely, maybe right about now. Can I confirm one way or the other after the weekend? Will have a better vision of finances then.

Entirely dependent on when/ if we get enough people together, then it probably (based on the first buy) be about 3 - 4 weeks.
