TRD Replica, finished and then unfinished project

Post by Super_red »

As title, its a TRD replica that has been finished then used and now needs to be tidied up again. I bought it from ebay about 18 months ago and it had been badly customised on 18 inch wheels with a terrible white plastic interior and badly adjusted coil overs. I put these wheels on from my MR2 with the correct spacers and swapped the badly adjusted rear coil overs for stock suspension with GMAX springs again from my MR2. I swapped the white vinyl buckets for stock half leathers and then just enjoyed the car for a bit. I had planned on keeping it longer and doing it up but I don't have the time any more so its up for what I think is a bargain.

Starts and drives, engine sounds sweet and pulls well.

£2500 as it stands, no tax or ticket but a lot of spares. I'm happy to hear offers if you want to take less spares.

I'll put up pictures now and list the good and bad points later if I get any interest.

I'm in Guildford and the car is in a lock up near Aldermaston but will be in Guildford in a few weeks, you can view in the light at Aldermaston.

Yeah the rear lights are on the bad list.

Ok from the top, spares;

Brand new
Calliper rebuild kit front and rear
Large ebay intercooler and all pipework with fan
Fan shroud for IC
Decat down pipe with gaskets and Lambda fitted
Inovate LC1 wideband sensor, controller and Gauge, I bought this gauge as it has the digits in the centre but the green, amber, red lights around the bezel so you can see from the corner of your eye without having to read the numbers

Other spares
3 matching gauges in a carbon surround in spare dash, boost, oil pressure and oil temp with all sensors and sandwich plate for oil filter.
The rear coil overs are included, the fronts are still fitted
The stock (with GMAX springs) fronts are included
A full set of working red painted callipers
A full set of rear lights infact the whole rear end with centre panel etc from my existing MR2 which is being broken.
All the rest of the interior from my existing MR2
Basically anything you want from my MR2 being broken except the engine and box which I will sell separate.
Speed sensor for gearbox.
White Rev 3 bootlid
Very Rare TRD Trunk extension panel for boot lid.

Good points
Engine and box are sweet and you can test this
Mileage is indicated as quite low with MoT's to corroborate this but see bad points.
Rev 6 lights
Big stereo keep or strip out and sell.
Pretty mechanically sound.
Decent boost controller fitted but not tested. Its been mentioned on here a few times as a very decent one with RPM based boost settings, will get the model up when I can.

Bad points
Brakes bind a bit but it drives
speedo does not work and I suspect the speed sensor in the gearbox as I get an error code 52 which is when the car exceeds 5k rpm with no speed. this error limits boost like all (most?) error codes do but before the code is flagged the car goes as it should and after it goes as it should but with only 7 PSI
Speedo has had white dials fitted over the old black ones, at night you cant see a lot! Dials from breaking MR2 are included if wanted.
Tatty interior that needs to be swapped for the interior from my breaker, seats swapped already, rest to do inc roof lining and door cards.
Rear end has been Schmooved and kit car style rear lights have been fitted, badly. The are basically just an interference fit in the fibre glass and not great at that but they stay put. The car is a standard Toyota white so smashing this out should be no problem.

There are probably more bad points but none of it is so bad. This is a project. Sills look fine but it got an advisory on the last MoT for under body corrosion. I have looked and its better than the one I am breaking. It is a tin top so should be ok but its up to you to look yourself.

Viewing highly recommended!

You would be better off putting mot on it otherwise you will struggle with getting a good price for it
