Duderstadt 2014

Post by jmachling »

So, firstly, anyone know what is actually going on this year for sure? I hear rumblings that our Dutch friends might be organising something, but details are thin the ground so far

Secondly, who's up for it?

General plan is: drive to the middle of Germany, put your tent up, meet up with great MR2 owners/enthusiasts from all over Europe, drink beer, eat BBQ, drive round some beautiful scenery, drive home.

It's a brilliant event that you won't appreciate unless you've been. Much more interactive than most UK shows/meets. It's the 5th year for some of us.

I hear rumours and will have a word with Benny / Mario etc for some more details.

I will be up for it too, though admit I am not sure if funds will permit the 2 to go, so will go in the 4.

I know Scott is up for it too. I think he wants to test the beast on the Autobahn again.

I hear the beer wench may make an appearance if she can get a passenger seat (and sufficient native sausage of course).

When I asked ze germans I was told 'The Dutch are official' so that Facebook group is the proper place for arrangements.

I'm in :D Bought an MR2 especially! Wenchy can come with me if she likes as I'll have a spare passenger seat, but MK3s aren't renowned for their luggage capacity

If I go in the 4 then plenty of room for a passenger and luggage.

As for native sausage, I have found a nice place in London that does Kaiserkreiner, right by the train station!!

Have several packets in my freezer :thumleft:

It may be hard to believe if you don't live here, but there is more than one shop. I have to admit to not having looked very hard, but I have yet to see a cheesy native sausage in a shop in Tooting.

I have, however, seen far too many as part of my work in hospitals, but that's another story...

I'm sorry, can't make it this year. We have a special trip to Japan planned instead and I had to change the dates for Indy care, so our trip now overlaps when Duderstadt is on.

I'm a bit gutted, but I don't think we'll be going to Japan every year so a planned return to Dudetown is likely in following years!

I hope Erik and Mario can source an alternate camping location as there were problems last year with the usual place that makes it untenable to return.

Had a Whatsapp conversation with Mario yesterday and he confirmed a new area for camping and beer has been found. As soon as I get the info I will post up here. :thumleft:

What crossing you on John? Or are you and Yana making it a longer break away? I was thinking early early Friday morning and coming back Monday afternoon.
