[Mk2] [NA] Standard Alarm Problem. Help Please

Post by david240968 »

I have a rev 5 and the factory alar keeps setting itself off for no reason. I have to disconnect the battery to stop the alarm. I've had enough of it now and thought of just cutting the alarm siren out of the car.

Would it be ok to just cut the wires off the siren and would it cause other issues? :thumleft:

You're better off unplugging the alarm ECU.

That sounds easy. Where is the alarm ECU and is it as simple as unplugging it? Thanks

I'm pretty sure its behind the stereo.. if you dig around behind there there is a little box. I did have a photo somewhere.

The alarm is really playing up now. Goes off for no reason and the only way to stop it sounding is to disconnect the battery. I got to the siren but couldn't release the connector. If I just cut all the wires of the siren will this work. I'm worried about the car not working if I do this. Urgent help please as it's a right royal pain in the ar$e right now.

As I said pull the ECU of the alarm is is located behind the headunit.

Under the front passenger side wing is the alarm siren. This will be full of water and corroded.

Either attack it by removing the head light or from underneath.

The central locking will still work and lights still flash but not sound.

Alarm disconnect

Post by Herts66 »

Hi I have a similar issue with my Rev4.
Driving or stationary with the engine running the doors randomly lock
And the alarm sets and activates
The siren gave up the ghost years ago

What's best pull out the radio and disconnect the
Alarm ecu or replace the siren module
Under the nsf headlight?

If I disconnect the ecu does the central locking still work
Off the fob?

Mine was the accessory fuse. Shorted when the satnav fag lighter plug broke when I plugged it in.
