[Mk2] [NA] Alarm goes off when I open the door!

I have a UK Spec Rev 4 which I locked last night with the fob.

When I came to open it earlier the fob has packed in and does not work so I opened the door using the key but the alarm keeps going off.

Is there a way around this at all?

First confirm if the keyfob is working or not. Could try a new battery.

I, other garages and many automotive locksmiths have a wireless/infrared tester. Check yellow pages.

Tried a new battery but no joy. I don't understand why the alarm goes off when I open the door with the key

Do you get the problem if you unlock the car from the passenger door?
Might help you isolate the problem.

Also check the alarm manual - maybe you need to synchronise/program the fob with the alarm after a battery change?

Alarm goes off whatever door I open.

I think the problem is because I locked the car with the fob so to disarm the alarm I need to unlock it with the fob but problem is the fob has packed in and doesnt work so I have no option but to open the car with the key but then the alarm goes off!

Fob is dead tried all the various resynch's and none make any difference.

For the short term can you disconnect the wire from the door switch, that way it will not register the door has opened.
