Handbrake Light Wont Go Off!

Post by waynestoyotamr2 »

Hi,

Anyone got any ideas on the above on my 88 SC?

I have tried pushing the little button, near the handbrake, and although the light on the dash flickers - it doesnt actually go off.

Anyone got any ideas?

I presume you actually mean your brake warning light so first thing I'd do is check your brake fluid reservoir in the "frunk". I've had this problem on 2 mk1's... seems the sensor to flag up when you are low on fluid is exceptionally sensitive and will light up when you still have a healthy amount left. Always good to top it up though :)

Cheers

yep if it isnt the switch then its got to be the level,or level sensor.the level just drops as the pads wear, could be time to check the pads.

our brake warning light usually comes on after a trackday (in the slug), bleeding the brakes sorts it right out.
