[Mk2] [NA] sph-da100 double din fitment into a mk2 rev3 ?

Post by Libertine »

Ok, So I just went to halfords and bought a Pioneer dph-da100 double din, paid £200 , and £30 for fitment, they're telling me the cage is too big for the car.. I got the refund , but im pretty sure this double din should fit in the car right ?

do you think its worth re-buying it and taking it somewhere that can maybe modify the cage ? or do halfords just not have a clue what they are doing ?

I assumed these things were very much standard sized... I would stand to be corrected but I imagine they have just messed it up?

A lot of the cages that come with the double din head units are too big to fit in double din dashes strangely so you then need something like this http://www.google.co.uk/aclk?sa=L&ai=C- ... +din+facia
You dont use the cage in an mr2 you use the brackets screwed to the stereo

Do it yourself as you already have an aftermarket stereo don't you.
Take your stereo out using the link above for reference, unplug the lead, then unscrew the brackets from the sides (picture above) and fit them to the new stereo, then plug it in and fit your new stereo. Any problem give me a shout.

Don't you have to screw the cage to the sides of the large hole then slide stereo into cage??

the brackets are screwed to the side of the stereo then they are screwed into the centre console, you have to remove to plastic console fascia to screw it in.

i have a set of brackets you can buy if you need them, pm and ill send the ebay link

the stock stereo was already removed when I bought the car, so I have no idea where the brackets are.. i had a kenwood in there ( held in by only a cage if im not mistaken ) , - because there is definately no brackets with them either..

so I think im bracketless.

I've been looking at the same headunit, but luckily I still have the original Toyota brackets in the car.

I've just been looking for some new speakers and found this on the Car Audio Direct website. They look like the brackets you'll need :)

(looks as though I don't have enough posts to post a link yet, so just replace the DOT with . in the URL below)

His stereo is all fitted in now I sent him some brackets and gave him some advice :)

Oh and the link you put above is brackets for a mk3 not a mk2 like the op has.

Ah fair enough, ignore me then :D

Did the stereo go straight in once the brackets were sorted? I might be getting one myself this weekend.

Yes they fit fine, have you still got the original stereo? If so you will need an adaptor lead.
Pop your old stereo out http://www.fitaudio.com/?View=entry&EntryID=77 take a picture of the plug and put up for me and I will tell you what you need or sell you one :)

No, I have a single din hole in the dash where the previous owner had an aftermarket stereo! I do have the adapter cable there though, cheers anyway.
