1994 rev3 TRD Widebody turbo build

Post by matt-mr2 »

hi been on here long enough so i though id put up a thread , Ive still to make a thread for my forged tubby conversion rev1 but you'll have to wait for that 1

Right while ive been doing my tubby conversion i missed driving the MR2 and didnt want to rush the build as i though "do it right do it once " no need to rush as i was getting parts of here and ebay as and when i could afford.

So i was browsing ebay one night and came accross a red rev3 n/a at a very good price with low mileage this was a tbar too so i went for a look at it and bought it :D

and it only had 58280 miles on the clock :)

it had just been serviced but needed a good polish but apart from that was a great car :thumleft:

looks clean enough to rip around in till your tubby is finished.

the first thing i did when i got the car home was give it a good clean but it wasnt long before i started to change bits

First i got hold of some clear sidelights and side repeaters they looked alot better on the red car

Next was wheels i had a set of MOMO Quasar 2 alloys with 2 brand new tyres on my rev1 so i swapped them over and it was sunny for once so i went for a drive with the tbars out :D

The car looked better already but then magic beans had a genuine rev5 spoiler in black for sale so i had to have it (thanks phil), I decided i was going to leave the blade and side plates black and paint the legs/uprights red so a few coats of paint later im im very pleased with it (i was dark when i had finished so not the best pics but you get the idea)

more to come later :)

Mini update

Plans have changed and the rev1 shell will no longer be used for my tubby conversion, I'm now going to use this car as its a newer shell so less work required for the conversion (brakes etc)

I also purchased a trd kit  and lots more parts so not much leaved to source.

Anyway I bought a Phoenix power engine lid this weekend

Also the guy had a carbon bonnet for sale too so I had to have it (aerocatchs on order)

It's coming along nicely , I'm going to get some carbon headlight covers too :thumleft:
